>> No.12404768

>>12404516
blocking? dpns? What does that mean?

>> No.12404820

>>12404768
Sorry man. Forget sometimes because I'm used to the jargon.

Blocking is soaking knitting in lukewarm water and letting it dry into shape to get it to look neat and sit properly.
I only usually bother blocking if it's with natural fibres because they tend to open up more and sit better after blocking, but synthetic fibre tends to stay the same.

Dpns are double pointed needles.
You can either knit flat or knit in the round. Knitting in the round requires a circular needles (which is like two knitting needles joined with a cable) or double pointed needles (dpns, small needles that are pointed at both ends and you tend to need 3+ of those to knit in the round) and creates a seamless loop. I like circular needles, hate double pointed needles, but where the top of hat needed a decrease (making a row of stitches shorter) it would have had too small a circumference to use a circular needle.

I'm looking for some advice on materials
a friend of mine wants armbands like that of the red cross/nsdap etc.
I'm trying to work out the best material to make it so it'll stay up decently on skin and clothing. If I made it of wool I think it might work, but otherwise it might need to have the ability to be adjusted.
Thoughts?

I need to iron the shirt properly and do some fixing and it should look lot better though. And on hindsight it probably would have sat bit better if the body wasn't just single piece but I like the idea of a single seam and it fits the anatomic theme I feel.
>flannel
Not a bad idea to be honest, dunno if the flannel patter would look bit fucked but maybe plain wool flannel would look nice.
Definitely making the denim jacket, just have to find good enough pattern and the right denim fabric for it.

I added a strip of fabric that connects each of the folds to the backside so the folds don't just fall flat due to the weight of the fabric when worn.
So I'm calling it ready, The body being single cut of fabric adds some extra fabric to the back but it ain't too bad. Pretty happy how it turned out!

Bought a light pink tee and never wear it, can I bleach it consistently to a very light pink, almost white?

Consistency is key, I see a lot of tie dye style bleaching on youtube tutorials, not into it.

that sounds fine, I'm game for a very light pink but the shirt I have is too much

So bleach properly means lay it flat in a wide container for 1-2 minutes?

How realistic is the idea of making my own clothes, specifically pants, if ive never sewn before?

Theres plenty of guides out there, and it doesn't seem TOO difficult. Cut the pattern, alter for fit, and sew along as guided.

Anyone here make their own clothes? I could start out easy, make comfy harem pants and pajamas with elastic waists.
