I have a big old steel pot that I'm going to use, you need to wrap it in a towel to sustain the heat at 60C for longer. It's not ideal but it does the job just fine for a small batch

Yeah they don't last, for maximum security you want to iron it on and then sew it too, idk about back patches but I've found they arm patches can be made comfier by actually peeling off the sticky layer first as it makes them a lot more flexible.

Sorry man. Forget sometimes because I'm used to the jargon.

Blocking is soaking knitting in lukewarm water and letting it dry into shape to get it to look neat and sit properly.
I only usually bother blocking if it's with natural fibres because they tend to open up more and sit better after blocking, but synthetic fibre tends to stay the same.

Dpns are double pointed needles.
You can either knit flat or knit in the round. Knitting in the round requires a circular needles (which is like two knitting needles joined with a cable) or double pointed needles (dpns, small needles that are pointed at both ends and you tend to need 3+ of those to knit in the round) and creates a seamless loop. I like circular needles, hate double pointed needles, but where the top of hat needed a decrease (making a row of stitches shorter) it would have had too small a circumference to use a circular needle.

If you want to get something that dark get a box or bottle of coloured rit dye and a box or bottle of black. Fallow the instructions on the packaging to mix the coloured dye, then slowly add the black dye until you get a desired shade you also might when I get test fabric this is some shade what you want to dye, then dye as instructed.

Is the jacket lined?
Adding a pocket to the lining should be pretty easy.
If the jacket is unlined and made of something like duck canvas or denim you'll need to use an industrial sewing machine and the resulting pocket stitching would show on the outside of the jacket.

I'm not entirely happy how the pattern drapes when worn but I think I figured how to fix that.
Another inspiration was sorta enhancing human anatomy, Rick does it super well, the pattern is like a spine and the body of tee has no seams other than this one in the back.

this is how I went about with the seam at the top, figured making it follow the pattern makes it more pleasing to the eye I suppose.
The linen I used I feel like was bit too soft for this, or at least more rigid would have worked better.
The original idea was to make the pattern on denim jacket but I figured I should try it on something simpler first.

I need to iron the shirt properly and do some fixing and it should look lot better though. And on hindsight it probably would have sat bit better if the body wasn't just single piece but I like the idea of a single seam and it fits the anatomic theme I feel.

I added a strip of fabric that connects each of the folds to the backside so the folds don't just fall flat due to the weight of the fabric when worn.
So I'm calling it ready, The body being single cut of fabric adds some extra fabric to the back but it ain't too bad. Pretty happy how it turned out!

Theres plenty of guides out there, and it doesn't seem TOO difficult. Cut the pattern, alter for fit, and sew along as guided.
