how does one affix patches to a jacket with two layers of fabric? i have a decent collection of metal/powerviolence patches i've accumulated over the years from going to shows, wanting to support bands by buying merch, but only having enough to cop a patch, but i never got around to putting them on anything. i thrifted a nice black jacket this weekend for that purpose but am now thinking that going through both layers of fabric with a needle would make them move oddly over one another. is there a good technique to apply patches to just the outer layer of fabric on a two-layer jacket?

Unless you want to spend hours on each patch, a computerized embroidery machine is the only way to go and the cheapest ones are still really expensive. It's also a slower process and requires more work for each patch and design

I just recently got access to one for free though, so I'm going to give it a shot. Hopefully it will be useful for making more niche designs so I can make small batches, which it way cheaper than ordering them
