Set an upper "acceptable" weight limit and weigh yourself once a week. If you're over the limit, eat a little less for a couple weeks until you're far enough away from it that you feel comfortable. Why does my TDEE seem so high? I'm a 5'3 female and every website I've checked tells me my BMR is ~1400-1500 and my TDEE is supposedly 1720. I set everything to sedentary and all that.

I don't think I could consume 1700 calories even if I was deliberately trying. And 1200 still seems high for restricting. Help

You look great! As for continuing with your weight loss, it might be a good idea to maintain for a few weeks to see how you feel. I think for most people (everyone who doesn't naturally have very strong cheekbones), it depends on the lighting. The only people I've known to have cheekbones like that regardless of the surroundings have them at higher weights as well.

i think there are still a lot of people in these threads who eat a "healthy" amount for weight loss. it's recommended you just take yout TDEE and subtract 500, but after a while it stopped working for me. i lost 40lbs in my first year of dieting, 20 in my second, and so far in 2016 i havent even lost 10, that's why i'm restricting so much

I don't do cheat days, I do cheat meals. I don't go crazy, but I just have a nice guilt free meal. A cheat meal I might get a small appetizer, two beers, a main course with a bite of desert (shared with friends, just a couple bites since I'm not a big desert person but a bit of sweets at the end is nice).

When I was losing I only had one cheat meal per week, now I'm maintaining and can be a bit more liberal if I'm good during the week.

Tried cheat days, and it just made me feel like SHIT. I did much better when I allowed myself a cheat "dessert" every day. I let myself get one of those small reeses cups from the gas station every day. They are 45 calories.

I switched to eating the stuffed soft pretzels (200ish calories, I think?) as my one cheat food a day. I would eat really well all day and reward myself with that.

I'm not sure, but I'd say at least avoid carbs since you don't need that instantaneous energy. Instead maybe having a slow digesting protein or some fat before bed. Your body still needs energy while you sleep, a lot of shit goes on during that time. So if you want, go for it, but keep it light and avoid carbs and sugar.

Would anyone recommend a vegetarian or even perhaps vegan diet??

Milk is practically out of my diet at this point. I'm not lactose intolerant or anything but lately I've just been using soy or almond milk. Last time I consumed normal cow milk I felt really sick and gassy all day it was terrible.

Don't know if I could cut cheese completely out of my diet though :(

As for meat I try to only eat it once or twice a week, because I prefer plant-based meals.
