you can't pull it off unless you're in a scene and life a certain lifestyle. the clean and homogenized rock aesthetic popularized by hedi over the last five years looks bad on 99% of people. having a coke or heroin addiction and not showering often is a good start. passing out on the street after getting hit by a car is also necessary.

To be fair, with a lot of designers you can never actually tell if something even fits the way it should. Unless you buy stuff that is pretty clean cut you never know if that pants is supposed to have a dropped crotch, is this jeans supposed to stack like this, are the sleeves supposed to be this long etc.

Best example are Dior Homme jeans. Bach when I bought them (which was like 6 years ago or something, nowadays I dont even wear jeans anymore) their entire selling point was the fact that they stacked the way they did. Someone who didnt know that would have brought them to a tailor and asked them to adjust their length. Just to give an example of how "something that looks like it doesnt fit" might as well be the intended way of it fitting.

But to answer your question: Most people dont because they order online. I live in a big city but I still order most my stuff online. Why? Because its easier, theres more shit to choose from, stuff usually fits me and if it doesnt the company has a legal obligation to offer me a refund for at least 2 weeks. I can also look at the piece at home, where there are no fucked up mirrors or lightning. I honestly think that online shopping is just so fucking chill for men because we have clear cut sizes. We dont need to try on dresses etc.

Guess I'll show my coat. In the middle of studding it. It is a Canadian made Brimaco perfecto made in 1960. Brimaco are getting increasingly hard to find in wearable condition as the label went defunct. Harley also stole this jackets design. The patch on the right chest is Wulkanaz. Less than 100 were made for a cassette release of Paurpura Fraeovibokos. I dunno, all the lyrics are in a proto-Germanic language. And the two on the pocket are from a special edition of Drowning The Light's album An Aligntment Of Dead Stars. Only 200 or so sets were made for that.
Im big on black metal. Exclusively the independent solo artists.

Most are these days. Though there are a few who will wear their coats and other shit around when they are on their own time. I pair it up with some Saberi trousers and a decent basic shirt or hoodie. Work clothing is either a band tee once in a blue moon or other basics. Doesnt need to be anything totally off the wall. Just a thing. After some years you find a reasonable balance.

That's half the fun. No different than any other big ticket item in your closet. Its not something you want to wear like a uniform regardless of how bad you want to. There is too much of a good thing.
Like, its doesnt need to be battle jackets and crust trousers 24/7. I dont wear more than one article of 'something metal' at the same time. Its my jacket, or a tee, or my crustys. Never all at once unless Im headed to a show or a night out with friends. Finding that balance makes the aesthetic all the more feasible. And only more than one article relating to my taste in music when I don't have to worry about appearances for the sake of my place of employment. Goes without saying. There's always room for your hobbies if youre smart about it.

Ebay. Some dude was selling off a bunch of old leathers and lo, a size S Brimaco. Talk about rare. Was in pretty decent shape despite some water spotting and that it needed some oil. The liner had also been changed. The flannel on the earlier iterations was kinda sketchy. Looser weave than it should of been for coat liner and as prone to wearing through with extended use. Otherwise a stellar coat. Thanks man
