Put on some triple black tns, slim pants(Xtra good if they're cropped) shorts work too, a decent black t (usually from a label/band/op shop trash) and some jungle juice on your person at all times.

Never been able to wear outerwear at a proper gig. Over sized bombers are good for the street. Yohji linen ones are my fav in terms of cut

Idk emulating techno wear is pretty dumb if you're not going to gigs. The people are really cliquey

deepchord is more dubtechno/ambient, field recording. convextion is straight techno, sometimes minimal/ambienty.

i myself like all techno, but yes,i do also especially like industrial/ambient stuff, especially dubtechno/field recording stuff.

that said, i haven't been to an event in seattle yet (deepchord/convextion was in LA). from what i've also gathered, the underground techno scene here is small, but still exists.

what's popular here, i hear, is deep house/trance.. lol. a bit behind in that respect.

in my experience, this seems to be mostly because underground techno events are already pretty damn niche, that you end up seeing the same people at a lot of similar events.

Here's a quick explanation.
Techno is the drum machine and electronic sounds that weave together. It becomes a house when you throw a synth and a girl singing over it, so that people can interpret (or at the very least, stomach) the beat.

More detailed:

House came from cutting the best parts of disco songs and often include melodies looped back and forth and vocal harmonies.

What we're talking about when we're talking about techno is a collection of sounds made entirely by machines (a drum machine among them), and usually minimal techno, usually between 125-130 bpm. Minimal techno is sort of a response to the popularity of mainstream "rave" techno (think like Darude or something) and how it was interpreted in the UK. It uses either skeletalism, repeating the core elements of a song with very little added OR massification, which is adding sonic elements over the course of the track to make it more dynamic and interesting

What I mean is, I moved to NYC recently, started going to all the techno scenes and listings, and I love this shit. Great stuff. I've always loved it since I was young. But, I suppose I developed my love in a different way?

I love to shuffle or dance and just let the music take me. But all these "techno interests me" friends that I have made...they just stand there and bob their heads. ALWAYS. Yet, they are ALWAYS at every listing. What the fuck.

Now I don't care that they do this, everyone can express themselves in their own way, but it is just peculiar to me because I really don't find people like me at these events. Why is that? Usually the "techno interests me" people always love me for my dancing, but why aren't they doing it then?

Am I just doing it wrong? Should I find a different scene?
