I understand your thought, and I get it. And this isnt the end all be all, and there are cases where this is not the case. But generally speaking, 'the rule' if you believe in that sort of thing; is if it has belt loops, you wear a belt. To be honest, I get your side, and it wouldve made more sense if pants were not made with belt loops and it just forced people to get the right size. But there is a complete practical side to wearing a belt. Even with a pair of pants that fit nice, for example, if your doing physical labor, pants still will fall and move around and what not. And personally there are times I prefer to have my pants tighter and times I want it to be looser. But when you see jeans (specifically) without a belt, its like seeing shoes without laces. Can it be done? Sure, why not. Not to mention how belts break up the line between shirt and pants.

dude its fine if you dont wat to wear a belt lmao
im just saying its a thing. you dont have to conform to 'the man'. the guy asked about a belt and he was answered. if he wants to wear a belt its fine, and if you dont thats fine too.

theres just weird fashion norms people expect out there. and belts are one of them. There was just an aticle posted about how people who wear brown shoes are less likely to be hired than people with black (in business). Now imagine you show up with a tucked in dress shirt, with no belt.

No anon, if you want to connect with others you must show skin. Wear Hawaiian shirts with shorts and sandals all year, you will get some weird looks, but its because they're interested in you. You need to garner attention with a specific style and if you're the "deep hawaiian shirt guy" everyone will come to you with their personal problems, you solve them and make a name for yourself. Dude, you dont know much about fashion. That example you are refering to was the conservatice finance sector in London. That is not a usual thing. Secondly, comparing wearing belts with jeans to wearing laces with sneakers is not even remotely the same. You are 30 years too late. Wearing belt with jeans: You have a body that rarely fit jeans perfectly in all areas, belt can fix one of them. Thats the main reason, second is like you mentioned earlier, if you move around a lot etc.

>> No.11721084

>>11721063
That article was an example. I live in the US and worked for a company that required belts and believe it or not they didn't care if your pants fit or not you still needed a belt. Ultimately there's nothing to argue about, I'm not sure what the fuss is. The orginal poster said he wanted a belt. There's nothing wrong with that, and no one knows his motives for having one. I realize you don't need a belt, I also realize 90% of /fa/ is a meme, 18yr olds, who dress edgy as a statement. After all this is fuccboi General, but the fact is wearing a belt is more normal than not wearing a belt. Your right it's completly stupid but I didn't create the society we live in

Hmm I think youre misunderstanding. Wearing a belt at *work* is something different. Thats because its seen as more formal etc. I'm talking about wearing a belt outside of work. Unless you're old thats usually only done to get the jeans/chinos to don't slide down. Take older americans for example, habit of wearing baggy chinos etc. Theres no way anyone can wear those without a belt. But those have a terrible fit. A pair of nice modern jeans/chinos worn outside of work for someone sub 40 is more often than not seen wthout a belt.

It depends on the position. Personally I would go in business casual. So a button up tucked in, dress pants or chinos. If your applying for a bagger position they are used to high school students applying who just dress in a polo maybe khakis and some boat shoes. There's obviously people who think it's wrong to slightly overdress, and I agree to an extent (I wouldn't go in with a suit). But if it's just some bagger position wearing a tucked in dress shirt isn't going to seem over the top too much and will set you apart from the scum applying. if you some some good work ethic it simply dressing nice can set you up for the manager position quicker.

Ultra boost 2 or Pure boost zg prime?
How long do ultra boosts last? I had a pair of flyknit racers that i wore every other day, only lasted about 5 months and now have a massive hole in the toe box. somewhat skeptical of flyknit/primeknit at the moment

Is there any general /fa/ wisdom for someone who is very slightly overweight? I don't buy clothes often enough, and I am a bit out of shape at present, and it's time to buy new clothes.

Wisdom other than "lose weight" obviously. I do intend to, but there will be one round of clothes-buying before I make any reasonable progress there. Just being honest.

Some of us agree with you. For work, have worn suit and tie to office for last 25 years and suit trousers generally need to be cinched with a belt so the loose wool fabric will neatly drape and hang from waistline. Jeans fit around the hips where they will usually stay snugly in place and are most comfortable just left beltless. I though most guys figured that out by the time they hit the 7th or 8th grade. Only fat overweight kids wore belts with them. Last time I wore a belt with Levis 501 or other jeans had to have been 35 to 40 years ago. Funny, after writing this I now recall pulling belt off, leaving it at home, and going without it for probably two or more years, before a couple of classmates questioned, “How come you never wear a belt?” and I explained, “These are just blue jeans, they look fine and okay like this!” Similarly, my father, born during the 1920's, who had good taste in clothing and dressed in some very nice suits, but never wore jeans that in his childhood era they only for farmers, only asked once, “What did you do? Forget your belt?” Seems my answer, “Oh, you don’t wear a belt with jeans,” satisfied him, as I still pull off the no belt look today.
