Not all trench coats are necessarily long. They vary in length, you just have to find the right one that fits your body proportion.

I think trench coats is one of the exceptions to body proportions. It just looks off if your not the right height regardless. Take Alpha M here, Trench coat is right proportions but it just looks weird on him.
