So I got enough money to buy some bean boots by ll bean. I wanna get the 6'' like the guy has in pic related, but I feel like and 8'' will be more worth while in the long run against rain.

Not sure where you live, OP, but as a Mainer I've had all kinds of bean boots through-out my life.
The traditional 8" are the most versatile and the 6" will leave you with wet feet if you get any sizable amount of snow per year.
