Someone else posted this before:

>Always buy all white duvets, pillowcases, sheets instead of ones with garish print. They won't clash with the furniture and will actually make the room look more open. Look at all the "comfy" rooms in this thread ... what do you notice they have in common? Fucking white bedclothes

>Make sure there's plenty of light, whether it be natural or otherwise. If you buy lamps, make sure they're higher (like a stand lamp) rather than lower (desk/bedtable lamp) and buy color-corrected, "natural light" bulbs instead of those disgusting yellow ones. Brushed aluminum or white powdercoated lamps like the ones you can get at Ikea for literally $10 don't clash with furniture. Actually really important because you have to spend so much time in your room, and proper lighting (and PROPER LIGHTBULBS) can actually help prevent clinical depression

>Put some plants in there. Plants make every room look and feel better. Succulents and snake plants are really easy to take care of.

>Don't leave your fucking lotions and books lying out all over. Keep your room tidy because it already looks so dingy because it's a fucking dorm.

>Cover the floor with cheap stuff like a bamboo mat or woven carpet. Don't use shag carpets, they'll just get disgusting, and again you have to choose stuff in a neutral tone.

>Hanging pictures on the wall makes it feel less like a cell but don't just tape up ugly movie posters. Look online for DIY ways to hang posters (like using those clamps clotheshangers) and then choose simple ones like black-and-white or low-contrast photos. Again, doesn't clash and also makes the room feel more homey/comfy.

Well it's your room so do what you want

Some things I've read have said that it depends on the size of the plant, the size of your room, and the location of the plant in relation to your bed.

Feng shui unanimously seems to eschew having electronics in the bedroom and while I make it a point to have no TV in my bedroom I obviously still use my laptop there. Some guides seem to advocate having small plants (away from the bed) to counteract the electronics' energy, so there is that.

Jap mags do interior issues sometimes. There was an anon posting some scans a little while back. And there are some Western mags that do alright, like Dwell, and others issue hardback books on interiors, like Monocle and Kinfolk. Scout tumblr, even pinterest, till you find something you like. Might take some digging though.

Good points but the lighting bullshit triggered me.
I actually bought new 3000K warm white 3W LED last year and that was one of the best thing I ever did to improve my house. Even 7W white cold bulb makes your room looks like a dirty hospital and it's too much fucking bright. Warm as the name says make the room warmer, the things look better, you relax and feel like your are in home.
Did this guy ever saw a comfy thread? The interiors always have low lighting levels and warm white in lampshades.

Are you willing to understand other people's opinions or you will just say "fuck you guys I like it, you are just blind-hating it because it's different!"?

The quote is terrible for a few reasons.
But, to be honest, the only one that matters is that you don't say shit like that. If you are the boss and you have to say you are the boss, you aren't the boss.
What would you think of the quote:
"Critical thinking is just a collateral for those who have higher intellect." Childish and fedoracore. If you brag about having intellect/style and not even caring about critical thinking/fashion you are looking like a preteen poser who actually cares too much desu

Ha. No...... take out the left wall at the entry; move the counter so that it's in the corner by the window. (ie. flip it.) Then you have a nice central space that you can use for a nice simple long table for turkey day with a good sized open area. You can use a nice simple round table the rest of the year. (where the wall currently is.)

Flip the door around too so it'll open the other side.

Add a floor to wall cupboard/pantry in the other corner of the kitchen by where the stove currently is. Flip the stove and the "ref" location around and you've got yourself a lovely kitchen.

You can also opt to extending the entry into the living room a little bit; but that would be optional.

The bathroom... the bathroom. Don't really need to change; though you could. I would extend the "bathroom and line it up with the bath closet entry. Switch the bath closet to either a modern-style closet; or an old country-time style furnishing.

The extra space can be updated later for a full four piece; or simply shift things around a bit to make it more open.

Bedroom/living room... we'll leave the furnishings to somebody else. ^_^

It's not hard to get decent floorstandings for cheap. Just look into decent branded ones on the 2nd hand market, there's tons of older people needing to get rid of them because they're too big for their new house etc.
