love it, have one for my desk, and one in the game room. Mood lighting can change the ambiance so easily.

>Neon pink and blue lighting fucking everywhere

Shiggy diggy.

All of this shit looks like it was designed to appeal to a 13-year old boy.

I have a cheap IKEA strip light that I mounted below a monitor riser on my desk. It's pretty rad and the strip is pretty cheap - $20 for three feet of length:

The colors are changeable, but the control itself is pretty finicky and kinda silly.

If you want to go hardcore, your best shot would probably be to purchase some of the more basic/industrial type LED tape. You can get 16 ft for about $5:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1Pack-Upgrade-More-Brighter-Than-Old-3528-SMD-RGB-Flexible-LED-Strip-light-300-LEDs-5M/32520636181.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_1,searchweb201602_3_10034_507_10020_9912_10001_10002_10017_10010_10005_10011_10006_10021_10003_10004_10022_10009_10008_10018_10019,searchweb201603_2&btsid=4167055f-0d73-4fd2-a199-531a02b6f571

Problem is, of course, twofold: buying from China incurs risk, and you also need to figure out your control/power situation as much as possible. I'd definitely shoot for a single strip that - as much as possible - would allow you to chain it together from a single switched power source.

el wire maybe? from what I see its pretty versatile
LEDs should be alright too, but if they're not hidden they can look pretty nasty
