What kind of shorts are not gay or dorky for a man? Should they go above the knees or over? Clearly they need to be on the slim side.

I am looking for some shorts since the warm months are coming; I dress very minimalistically. I wear cotton twill chinos with solid colored t-shirts and sneakers everyday. All slim, all earth tones.

Cuffed shorts would make me look like I eat dick.

The only thing I can think of would be slim-fitting but not skin-tight shorts, right over the knee, or these swim trunks I have that go half way down the leg, and look pretty short.

Would it be easier to get away with shorter shorts when they're trunks? That way people might think I'm on my way to swim?

Its culturally acceptable here, in colder climates it'd be gay af.

Sidenote: the only problem with wearing my swim trunks, is that I don't want my rock hard boner to fucking slip right out. I think they need to be above the knee. Shorts that go below the knee look really dumb imo. If they're too short it looks bad too. They should be fit, but certainly not tight.

People generally dress colourful, use a lemon as your inspo.
how good is your Dutch, if you only speak English your not really going to meet anyone outside the tourist industry, or the rare case like me.
