I've had my hair like this for so long and I'm so sick of it. Don't really know where to go for suggestions but maybe I'll have some luck here. I'm also open to dyeing it, as long as it's a natural hair color

so im pretty happy with the state of my hair in the front rn, especially considering I dont have to put anything in it or "style" it at all besides letting it air dry (im p lazy in this regard). But in the back its starting to get a mullet sort of look where it curls up.

Idk whether to just keep letting it grow till its shoulder length, or clean up the back and just keep front/sides long, or buzz it all off, or kill myself, or wtv.

Thoughts?

What should i do with my hair?
I wanted to go for a young leo/depp look but short hair is very tempting too although I like it long but others always say that short looked better.
Any ideas or suggestions?

If your hair isn't horrible and fine: grow some bangs to hide your deathly forehead and make you look less poor Eastern european-y. Do not do pure straight bangs though, you'll look creepy.

If it is really thin: shave the sides to balance out your inverse triangle face and work from there. Maybe a buzz cut? Maybe an undercut?

Whatever you do just get some layers in there.

Is there any potential for my long hair? I was thinking a simple layered cut to lose the heavy volume on the sides and back, and maybe trying to find something to give it more curl/waviness (pic has some sea salt spray, in it, but it doesn't seem to do much).

I've just let it grow so to allow for flexibility for when I finally do get it cut and styled. I'm usually told to just go short with it, but I hate how I look with short hair, and I don't want to have all the time spent growing it to just wind up on a cutter's floor.

I usually put some pomade in it to give it a little shine and help keep some of it out of my face, otherwise I just tie it up. I'm also on month 8 of no shampoo, and I intend to continue that because I've noticed much less dandruff since starting.

I'll also quickly address a couple other things people have said before, in case they're brought up again:

Anyone else feel like your hair is better in texture after waking up? I always shower any ways and fuck up the oils in the hair, but still. What can I do to keep the more oily texture? Usually it's kind of dry when I shower. I always use a bit hotter than body temperature and then really cold.

Pic related is me after waking up. Any ideas what I can do with the banger? Not really fond of it desu.

Is pic related /fa/? I grew a beard over xmas out of boredom, and I think a fade into my hair could actually be quite a good look, because I like to keep it short if possible. fix me I guess. this is what my hair is like after I shampoo/condition it and let it sit for a few hours. it normally looks a little better a day or two after washing. I sometimes put hair cream in to give it a bit of a hold.

thinking about going in and telling them to clean up the sides and leave the top alone.

What should I do? I've had the same haircut my entire life (except when I was a toddler when I actually had good hair).

I'm biracial and thus very coarse. It's also really dry. I tried growing it out once in vain only to get a thick, dry...afro...? I guess I could call it.

As of now I'm trying to grow it out again, drowning it in shit that should help.

I usually get a low fade, or a taper cut on the sides, and just get my ends cleaned up on top; been about a month since my last haircut.
If I go shorter on top I use Brylcreem, for when it's this long I use Murrays. I hate my curly hair and will slick it to the side, but most people say I look better when I leave at least the front curly.

Right, so I've been wanting this haircut for a while but I've got some questions.

What hair product should I use for messy-ish hair? I tend to pull back my hair with my hand when it gets too annoying falling into my eyes, but after a few times any product that was in the hair just disappears. And my hair is too puffy and shitty to not use product. Any suggestions?
