That watch is too nice for a NATO, for fuck's sake. Do the watch some justice and put it on a regular leather band. If you insist on wearing something rugged and waterproof, go look for a composite strap. Otherwise, stop wearing your watch like a cunt.

>A blogger has derided Shinola for using cheap, easy-to-manufacture quartz movements, noting that the battery-powered movements utilized—manufactured by Ronda AG, an independently owned Swiss movement manufacturer[3]—are worth a mere $20.[18] Other brands, such as Tag Heuer, have also faced criticism of this sort.[19] Shinola has further faced criticism for its failure to use the automatic, self-winding mechanisms found in nearly all higher-end watches, ones which require substantially more skill to produce.[9]

>Detroit-based journalist Jon Moy has suggested that the choice of Detroit as the location of Shinola's factory was a calculated act of "opportunistic marketing" intended to yield feelings of nostalgia on a purchaser's part. [20] He wrote about Shinola: "Shinola is using my city as its shill, pushing a manufactured, outdated and unrealistic ideal of America."[21] On the other hand, many commentators to this article consider this criticism unfair, given that the company has created American manufacturing jobs.[22] Moreover, the company has invested intensely in its employees, flying in watchmakers from Switzerland to train its employees.

Here's what I've been wearing pretty much every day lately. I need to get more straps for it, all I have right now is the stock rubber one, this OD NATO, and a similar tan one. As far as I know a zulu strap is a single piece, a nato has the extra flap of material that goes under the watch and stops it from sliding up and down the length of the strap. Pic related is nato, if you cut off the extra flap it would be zulu. I prefer zulu because they're less bulky since the watch sits on top of one piece of fabric instead of two, but I guess nato is a bit safer.

Not entirely true, a five ring zulu is particularly defined by the two extra rings attached to that extra flap, whereas a nato has one ring on the flap. A three ring zulu is a single piece as you mention, but they're both defined a zulu by their shared hardware and material.

Buying from a boutique store (i.e. buying your Omega from the Omega store) is the most expensive option, they will charge you full MSRP and you would have to be retarded to pay full MSRP. Buying from an AD (authorized dealer, usually a jewelry store or a watch store that carries many different brands) is usually cheaper but still gives you all the same warranty and everything. You can also often find gray market dealers for cheaper still, but those won't have the official manufacturer warranty. Websites may be authorized or they may be gray market, you kind of have to read up on them to see which is which.

For something like that Hamilton that costs less than a few thousand dollars I would honestly stick to gray market, your cheapest option will most likely be Amazon or some other online store.

The strap in the OP is just too minimalist to support the bulk of this watch's face. It looks like a fat girl using twine as a belt. The original strap is burly, but if you're looking for a replacement, I'd shy away from faux pleats in the leather, I think it looks tacky.

If you're still around, I'd recommend a PVC composite strap. They share the same shape of the original leather strap, being chunky at the lugs and everything. They are pretty robust and waterproof, and they look far better than a NATO.

Woah, so it is. I was calling it a NATO because it has the extra "flap," but I guess it's a five-ring Zulu. I guess I know why I haven't liked the NATOs I've gotten elsewhere.

zulu is a brand name from maratac

the chinese use the "zulu" name since it isn't trademarked
refers to the hardware those fat stainless rings

they tend to look cheap.

3 ring zulu = Military strap single piece, english people call it RAF style .

5 ring zulu is a NATO strap with maratac zulu brand thick hardware meant to fit over a wetsuit

they look REALLY cheap IRL like you went to lows and used chain ling fencing parts to make a strap

I really like the ones I have, they're much nicer than the normal NATOs I've looked at. Great thick, durable nylon, and the hardware is a perfect match for the brushed front of my 173's case.

I don't know where my local shop gets them, though I have suspicions that they might be Maratacs, but it's part of why I'm waiting for them to restock and not ordering something elsewhere.

I also have this tan one and like it as well, but it doesn't go with as much of the stuff I wear.
