It all comes down to social norms and perception. Since 99% of the population are stuck in the mallcore fashion tier, those that exceed or put even the tiniest bit of effort into looking "different" than the 99% are classified as well dressed. The thing is, well dressed isnt necessarily synonymous to fashionable. Fashion is an art where creativity and pure aesthetic appeal of the garments are prioritized, and it is different than just dressing yourself to make yourself "presentable." The latter inherently forces you to at least somewhat conform to social standards because you're trying to be presentable to everyone else. Im not saying that fashion as an art and the activity of dressing up are mutually exclusive, but 4chan tends to be on the extreme side of fashion which is far from reddits perception of fashion which is much more "accessible" to society.
