Jacket/Sweater general thread - best winterwear for the upcoming winter

Should I cop this jacket? Only $40

>> No.10563229

It's only a shell, okay?

>> No.10563251

40$ is a great price for a jacket but an OK price for a shell

but come on OP, its a black rainjacket, you either like it or you don't, so buy it or not.

>> No.10563261

why are you on /fa/?
this is just "a jacket"
if this was world of warcraft, you would get this from killing a boar and then sell it to a vendor for 26 silver. i havent played wow for years, but this is the analogy that sprang to mind.

>> No.10563311

Can we get some stuff that is actually WARM for when it snows and shit ~20-30 degree Fahrenheit weather and is also waterproof?

Ive been looking everywhere and been thinking about barbour or a Carhartt WIP or maybe some cheap puff jacket but Im not in love with any of them.
They are also all pretty expensive. Anything thats cheaper with a similar aesthetic as a barbour or like a mentor jacket?

Totally missed the fact that it was only a shell, thx man.

Just need some good/effay winterwear.

it's a good layer. the hood drapes pretty nicely, i'd recommend a larger non-hooded jacket/coat to go over it

It's basically a trash bag sewn into the shape of a jacket

if you have $200, i think the best looking, best fitting, super light but hella warm hooded jacket, is this arctyryx atom light hoody. great piece of gear.

>> No.10563683

>>10563676
well, jackets like that actually do have their place, if you are into "layering". theres nothing wrong with having a super thin waterproof nylon shell if you plan on wearing it over a fleece jacket or down sweater or something of that nature.

Someone gave me this for free.
Is it possible to wear without looking like a douche bag, or should I just stuff it in my closet?

>> No.10563773

>>10563678
There's two versions of the atom. The lighter one is more for above freezing temperatures or as a midlayer when it's colder. That's the one I have. It's about 200, and it's called the Lt. I would not recommend it as a stand alone jacket for winter.

The ar is warmer and slightly more expensive. They're both great jackets. I've gotten a ton of use out of my lt even though I don't think it's that fashionable.

Arcteryxs real winter jacket is the therme parka though.

>> No.10563873

if I could remove the fucking patches I'd love to buy this jacket

they released a grey and a black version of the fleece jacket recently, but yeah nothing flecked unfortunately. I have a navy/black rover pack too. I considered the trail pack but the rover is much more comfortable, it has better straps, such a nice bag all round. I dont wanna be a brand whore but their stuff is so cool

No shit I agree
Find me another American brand at the same quality and price point and I'll jump on it
Closest comparison I can think of is Drifter

nah, looks dope

the only issue is that it'll fall apart really fast, so maybe start checking out/saving for other jackets in that style that are built better (provided you like the fit)
