i went to high school in nyc, the rest i were in a dutch boarding school.
I travelled through 33 US states.
I have been to 20 european countries.

I can tell you straight up that the US a cultural wasteland for anyone who isnt a plutocrat. (always was)
As for europe, people are much less insular and aware of the outside world.
The drug scene is much easier to access in europe because it is not a fully dystopian society.
The cost of living slightly less in europe compared to the few desirable parts of the US just because they have better social laws in europe prohibiting blatantly carcinogenic food from coming onto the market (which is often tagged shamelessly with a pink ribbon)

In prague, avoid the nigerian street dealers.
n copenhagen, your best place to get drugs is in christianstad
Milan... well, it's still italy so if you're sharp youll find people easily.

I live in Milan and here's what I think about it: there are two sides of Milan, one which embraces the cultural diversity, different languages, fashion styles aternative arts and etc. The other side of Milan are the typical Milanesi. These people are filthy rich, families full of tradition and it's extremely hard to bond with them. I've been living here for quite a while and experienced the best of both worlds but I'm not gonna lie, out of my group of friends I'm probably the only one who isn't fully Italian. Schools are great here, food and night life is fantastic if you have quite some money to spend. No need for car, a bycicle and a metro card will certainly do it. If you're the type of person who hates long night walks and visits to museums I don't think here would be a good option for you.
Fact is, unfortunately, if you're Hispanic, black or poor don't even bother showing up here, you'll not get the best out of it.

edinburgh is good for living but expect standoffishness and slightly hostility from people. not because you're foreign but because that's just how it is.
there are some good clubs and club nights all throughout the week if you're into that.
cost of living is pretty expensive. a pack of marloboro reds can sometimes run over 10 quid.
as far as fashion goes its absolute basic bitch central. topman and H&M junkies everywhere, top knots are still gaining popularity and its pretty liberal so expect plenty uneffay coffee shop types.
drugs are easy to get. people here mostly smoke weed and pop pills, though of course there is a lot of heroin abuse (in the poor suburbs). 'american' drugs like adderall, meth etc are completely unheard of. psychedelics are also popular.

I lived there for four months while studying abroad. I had a great apartment, and everything is super cheap. /fa/ city but not much shopping outside of Andrassy (think 5th ave) and some shit tier streetwear. That being said, I didn't really seek to go shopping there so much because I did it while traveling elsewhere in Europe, which brings me to my next point:

Its centrally located. I traveled to England, Italy, Amsterdam, Vienna, as well as around Hungary and that was considered minimal travel. Close to Germany, Prague, etc. Flights to and from Ferighy airport are cheap af.

If you were frugal, you could easily live a good life on $3,000 in spending money for Budapest. I didn't have rent or anything, but meals, nights out, shopping, metro cards and weed ran me well under $10,000 for the semester with eating in restaurants and drinking every night. Travel excluded obviously.

It's also a beautiful city, with endless shit to do for fun. Not to mention cheap, what I spent in a day in Amsterdam lasted me a week in Budapest. Hungary uses the forint rather than the euro. Beer in a super market will run you 200-300 forints, which is roughly 90 cents, slightly more in small pubs and like $4 in clubs. Pizza is cheaper, and a gyro is like $2. I attended football matches, saw historic sights (poli sci major), went to clubs, explored on foot, and drank my way across the city. The rest of the country is relatively rural but the people are friendly and kind, I never had issues. The language is sort of a bitch but that's okay, most people you'll interact with in the city speak perfect english.

I've spent time in London, Milan, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Amsterdam as well as just about every major city in the states, and Budapest holds a really special place in my heart. It has the charm of a major european city with none of the over-touristy shit or the headaches that come with that, like crazy high prices.

Went out friday and saturday and it wasn't all that. I heard Lux is a good club but I didn't go there. Bairro Alto up in the hills is mostly bars, I found that the clubs are in the pink street.

But overall the city is really great. It's not too massive, public transport is pretty good, great weather, beaches are only a short train away. Plenty of interesting museums as well. And the city itself is beautiful and not overflowing with tourists as other European capitals. Alfama is super cheap.

>8 seconds apart

Alright, starting with the stigma attached to it. Everyone, inside and outside of Germany thinks Berlin is that awesome, fashionable, artsy city filled with independent thinkers and intellectuals. Basically, everyone projects what they imagine their ideal city is like on Berlin.

The reality, however, is not all that.
It is filled with the most pretentious people you will ever meet, which is rooted in the image formed by people who visited Berlin once or twice, but have never spent more than two weeks there. So it's either people trying to be what people expect them to be, or people moving there to be part of that crowd.

Obviously, you can't look at Berlin as one big city, but as a bunch of smaller cities who just happen to be next to each other. The cultural differences between them are huge, some suck, some suck less, and some are pretty nice.

And of course, the image Berlin has doesn't come from nowhere. There are cool people and cool places from Berlin, but they become more rare every day. But, a large majority of the people living there (especially when their family has lived there for a while) are elitist assholes, who think coming from Berlin makes them better than people who just moved them, and that they are >true Berliners, whatever that's supposed to mean.

This is probably gonna read like some incoherent rant, pardon me, it's almost three past midnight.

It is very expensive to live in cph: The flat cost pr. month is stupidly high, if you wanna live near Copenhagen University or Copenhagen Buisness school. The food itself is much cheaper to buy as ingridients and cook yourself.
The drug scene is actually pretty physical: Christiania sells weed, but no hardcore drugs, on open street.
The shopping is amazing: Stroget (a long road with shops on both sides), selss both highend and H&M-tier stuff. I can recommend Storm Fashion.
The underground music scene i know nothing about, but just outside copenhagen in Roskilde, every year, is hosted one of EU's biggest open-air festivals "Roskilde Festival" (Names like Kendrick and Paul McCartney have apeared)

Lisbon is a vastly underrated city in Europe
>very inexpensive
>great nightlife for students, lax drug laws and easy access to drugs
>shopping isn't great but is decent and most people have good fashion sense. lots of attractive people too
>not many immigrants compared to other Euro capitals and not a touristy city
>good weather
downsides are location, guess it's a bit harder to travel since it's really western europe. also not a huge amount of concerts with decent/large named artists.
often overlooked but is a dope city

The police don't care about drugs you can find dealers easily. The food is pretty good, even if you eat at the cheaper restaurants (the prices are a joke, a gyros costs about a dollar). Not really, cocaine is a huge deal here with all the business people here. Weed can get difficult sometimes, most people you get dope from are friends or friends of friends, shouldn't be a problem at a uni tho. MDMA/Amphetamine can be found at almost every party with electronic music. Also psychedelic stuff like shrooms/lsd is rather easy to find. Also most of it is good quality.

It's cheap, the nightlife is also great and cheap. Also very diverse, you got big clubs, but also small pubs and public places were you can meet people . The police doesn't really care, you can get drugs w/e you want. The people self are nice, and most of them also talk English.

A room is around 3500-4500dkk a month. That's roughly 5-600euro. Buying groceries is fair priced, even though everything is taxed 25%. Eating out can easily be very expensive aswell, with exceptions like kebabs and mcD. But that's not really food anyway. If you need to take the train or bus to the university, it's 607dkk a month. Most fitness chains charge 250dkk a month (if you're into that). Clothes vary a lot, there's a lot of thriftshops aswell as designer clothes available. Cigarettes are extremly expensive aswell; so hopefully you aren't a smoker.

Personally I adore the architecture and the general aesthetics that the city has to offer. Nightlife is great aswell.

Top fucking kek. First line and you have already shown how little fucking clue you actually have. Almost everyone in Germany thinks that Berlin is trash and they base their statements on a fucking holiday visit.

>The cultural differences between them are huge, some suck, some suck less, and some are pretty nice.
They arent, like at all. The differences are as big as they are in any city with a population above 250k.

>are elitist assholes, who think coming from Berlin makes them better than people who just moved them
More and more bullshit. If anything people are pissed that all the village kids come to Berlin to study because it skyrockets the requirements at Berlin universities which is a gigantic pain in the as for local students. Now they suddenly have to move to a more expensive area and keep living at home.

Besides, elitists asshole in Berlin? Have you ever been to Munich, Hamburg, Duesseldorf or Frankfurt? Apparently not.

>true Berliners, whatever that's supposed to mean
Yeah, thats why most people have almost exclusively contact to foreigners and speak English more often than German, right?

You can not deny that it exists though, and there's a reason for it, just look at popular culture.

I really love berlin though its an amazing city with a lot of cool places and a very good nightlife and so on evrerything you hear about this town might be true BUT i left my lovley hometown for studying even though it would have been possible for me to stay. Why? Berlin looses its authenticity more and more day by day all the things which made and make berlin a very awesome town to live start to change and not in a good way. And besides this the people in berlin usually are horrible i mean espcially in the clubs i have the feeling nobody is there without a cause everybody is so fuckin pretencious in this town and thats whats going to kill all of the good things everything starts becoming more and more unreal because like i said the town is loosing its authenticity because there is an lack of authentic people in town.
