Skagens look nice enough in the store but then you wear it for a couple of days/week and realize it's cheap chink fashion bullshit and then the crystal gets scratched to shit and then it breaks.

I know it's the same suggestion everyone makes but honestly I think you would be better off getting one of the cheap jap brands in that price range like Seiko 5 or Orient or maybe Citizen or the Seiko quartz watches. Few people, but some CAN pull of G-shocks, even the whacky ass colorful ones.

G-Shocks are a bit goofier in terms of aesthetics and so would fit kids better for casual wear. But realistically nobody gives a shit if you wear a G-Shock in public.

I personally think G-Shock is a working mans watch. Even if I was a multi-millionaire/billionaire, the wrist watch I would buy wouldn't be some bullshit ass Rolex Explorer or anything like that. It'd be a gaudy, durable G-Shock because it's realistically perfect for rugged stuff.

G-Shocks are watches I wouldn't mind if it got dropped, I wouldn't mind a couple scratches, I wouldn't mind having it beat up a little bit because they can take it.

I leave my Patek and other fairly decent middle of the road watches at home when I go out and about. Unless I'm doing simplistic stuff like I'm on vacation and hiking up a simple mountain to go star gazing or some such, in which case I might slip on one of the middle of the road watches.

Same with me, I found my grandpa's watch which was in storage for a long time just like yours and I really like wearing it even though it wouldn't be worth shit on ebay or something because it's a bit beaten up and the dial isn't original.

With yours being quartz it would really probably be pretty cheap to get it running like new and you could also get the crystal replaced and the watch would really be pretty decent. The case is pretty banged up and the hands aren't great but the dial looks pretty clean and at least all those nicks were put there by your dead grandpa and not some random guy on ebay.

Absolutely, I would get it.

Strap probably isn't that high quality, so I would wear it mainly on special occasions unless you don't mind the risk of it breaking when you least need it to. But all in all, it looks good and tells time very easily and it's got indiglo which is always a bonus. The lugs unfortunately look a bit unusual so I'm not sure how a nato would fare, but I'm sure you could find something for it.

Not my pic, but I got the same watch (Seiko SCVE007) two weeks ago. So far, I really like it. The orange is pretty muted, so it pairs pretty easily with my outfits. Definitely solid, feels nice a hefty for a small/medium sized watch.

I think most people have sought after the red one (SCVE003), but it's sold out. Blue is okay but boyish, yellow is sickening.

I've just bought mine on eBay, you can pick up cheapest ones for few dollars and more better ones for around 20 - 30(such as Phoenix). Look how close to the center the subdials on the Professional are. 99% of mechanical chrono movements have the subdials spaced out further than that and so fake professionals look completely wrong. There might be some quartz movements that get the spacing correct, I think I remember seeing some quartz fakes somewhere, but then it's also pretty obviously a fake since it ticks like a quartz watch. The Reduced Speedmaster has a more typical subdial spacing and so the fakes of that one are probably going to look closer to the real thing, but personally I think reduced speedys are ugly anyway in part because of that spaced out subdial layout. And nobody really prefers the reduced over the pro anyway, people just buy the reduced because it's cheaper.

Honestly just get a real watch, it's not worth it. You'll get something much nicer for the same price that you would spend on a decent fake and you don't have to worry about all the bullshit. There are nice real watches which don't cost thousands of dollars.

If the only watch you like is the speedmaster then buy a damn speedmaster, but there's plenty of other watches that look good. What do you even want? What's your price range? Are you only interested in black dial 3-register chronos? Does it have to be mechanical?

There's a whole shitload of quartz or meca-quartz chronos like pic related to choose from for below $200, and if it has to be mechanical then a used speedy is actually a relatively cheap option at around $2000. If you really insist on mechanical as cheap as possible then look into all the Seagull ST-19 watches but be prepared to deal with poor quality control and a delicate movement that loves to shit the bed for no reason.

Anyone here like Oris watches?

>> No.10560355

>>10559520
Nah.

All the other guides before that one had less and less. I think the very first one made was what, 1/4 as many watches as it is now? And any watches on the alternate guide have them in the "See Also:" section

So that one has everything every other guide before it had.

I somehow managed to lose my Invicta 8926C and despite its criticisms on this board, I really liked it. I'm not sure if I should get another one or if an anon can suggest something in the same price range?
