the guide on soap PH offers bad advice
any cleanser in bar form, regardless if it has detergent in it or not, goes through saponification, giving it a high PH by definition.
5.5 PH or lower is what you want to aim for. If your skin feels tight at all after cleansing, it means you used too high of a PH.
I recommend Hada Labo Gokujyn Hyluronic Acid cleansing foam. Gentlest cleanser I've ever used.

thank you for your feedback.

the shape of the final product is not necessarily dependent on if the main surfactant in the product is "true" soap, or a synthetic detergent. there is a great number of compounds in each group, with different physical characteristics, that are usually combined with many other ingredients.

as you can see on the list of ingredients (@ Amazon for example), all of the listed cleansers in bar shape are mainly (or entirely) composed of synthetic detergents.

based on the table in the picture (from the article linked in the pastebin), the cleansers I listed have a pH around, or below, neutral pH. the important aspect here is the resulting irritation index, which is also included.

syndet cleansers are generally lower in pH than ordinary soaps (regardless of if the soaps are in bar shape or not). but there are of course exceptions depending on how the final product is formulated, as you can see from the list.

>>10527792
please note that cosdna.com is pretty useless as it doesn't take the concentration of the ingredients into account, and not how the ingredients interact with each other in the final product.

I would still use a product with ingredients rated "5" (in both acne and irritant severity) if the product was recommended in dermatological literature and online reviews.

Hey guys, just thought I'd like to share with you a photo of me, kind of hard for me to even look at, but I figured it could give any of you guys with acne some motivation!

I had never been to a dermatologist (although I should have, and I suggest you do if your acne is as bad as mine)

But my routine for 5 months was: Paulas choice 5% benzoyl peroxide 3 times a day (but if you've never used it before, do less) and Paulas choice moisturizer + SPF sunscreen before I went outside, as well as using a cleanser in the morning and before bed

I never moisturize before bed (even after using benzoyl peroxide) because it makes me break out EVERY SINGLE TIME

I had tried acne.org, neutrogena, and cerave products, none of them helped. I honestly can't recommend Paula's choice enough! Not sure if this will help anyone, but just wanted to post the picture, it is a crazy big accomplishment for me.

Always sensitive skin gel, no matter the brand. Got an Aquatouch electric razor that works even when wet so irritation isn't a problem. Normally I use a cleanser when I'm in the bath and use some after-cleanser product when after (dont know what it's called)
Recently bought a moisturizer with low fat % and some UV protection - haven't used it that much yet.

I bicycle through harsh wind (job is close to the ocean) - do you think this dries out my skin?

Help!

I think it would be better to leave them alone than to try to remove it as that would only cause more irritation to your skin. Let it heal on its own and make sure you stay exceptionally clean for the next two weeks as it heals.

I've been having this issue recently too, I bought a tea tree oil mask from the body shop that I use when I shower and it helps a bit. Yesterday I also bought the bb seaweed mask from Lush and after putting it on once the bumps went down a lot, so maybe try that one if you want some quick results. The employee said it's good to use masks after taking a warm shower because it's when your pores open up the most.

I think i've found a cure for my cystic acne. Before using my regular cleanser at night, i massage sunflower oil into my face for about 3 minutes. Ever since i started doing this 3 weeks ago i haven't had a single cystic spot, and i usually get one every week or so.

I never had bad acne, but in the last 2 or so months for some reason my shit got really fucked up and it was affecting my confidence a lot.

Here's what I did to clear up my skin.

Cetaphil cleanser in hot shower

Stridex (salicylic acid) after shower, towel dried face

20-30 minutes later (this is important, because when using salicylic acid + benzoyl peroxide you need to wait a bit after the SA so your skin is at the proper PH balance for the BP to be most effective) Benzoyl Peroxide, apply and massage for 2 minutes then rinse.

Depending on dryness, moisturizer or facial sunscreen - I use eltaMD

repeat twice daily, once in the morning once at night.

Within 2 months my shit's clear again

So exceptionally clean =
Drink lots of water
Try never to touch face
Change sheets often
Bath every day (?) I normally shower every two days.
Still apply moisturizer? Thinking this would help against the weather

I flipped out from all the shit that would lure me in with a few days of clear skin and then give me even worse shit, so now in my rage I just water and stridex my face all over and let it tighten and burn and flake. It'll have to get used to it. Or I'm seeing a derm for more expensive fancy shit, I dunno

Moisturizer is one way to retain healthy skin. So, yes, it would be a benefit if you have irritated skin.

Everything fucking breaks me out, I don't even know what it is, I'm pretty sure dairy or hormones too, but basically there is so much dosgy crap out there that I've grown to mistrust even vaseline. My makeup moisturizes well enough for some reason and doesn't cause problems. I dunno, my face is just cursed but I feel like it's improving a bit by being punished

thanks fam

that shit kept getting more swollen, and the whole area that was blistering went hard and dry, and really hyperpigmented.

I'm putting it down to the disgusting couch i slept on.

I went to the doc and got some antibiotics and it's getting better, but i have to present an oral at uni and it's still so red.

I'm a Baker and constantly in front of an oven, sweating and have steam in my face all morning causing my pores to be prone to rape, what's the best way to combat this without constantly washing my face with cold water or is that my best bet?
