It was never about the heart. /fa/ jumped on them because the shoe design removes many of the detracting elements from usual converse (e.g. contrast stitching, the racing stripe).

At the time, /fa/ hated things like this (e.g. would black out the stitching on sk8-his, etc.). I think it's true to some degree nowadays, though I don't see it as much anymore.

Wait, really? That's complete garbage. I always had thought the old design was purposefully trying to pare down superfluous details, and let the heart be the single (yet somehow still minimal) design element beyond the shoe's silhouette and its blocks of color.

Kind of defeats the purpose to put the branding and details back in. I don't know why they would do this.
