The vast majority of people are plebs. Most people have shit taste in music, art, literature and film. (and vidya) However you can't necessarily determine someone's taste in music or whatever form their appearance alone. You can guess genres based on stereotypes but not the specifics unless they're a walking billboard. Fashion is obvious though. You can instantly tell if someone knows anything about fashion just by looking at them. tbh im not a gamer but there is a divide.

i got an original xbox, with the original halo, and quite quickly i understood that the game was, "shoot the guys"

however, multiplayer could be entertaining. if i were over at a friends house the "playing styles" of each individual could be comedic, or interesting. that was more engaging because you were competing as opposed to a pre programmed swarm of "aliens" needing blown up.

apart from that, i played pokemon very intensely for a brief period, i'd say a year or so when I was younger. i think it was entertaining based on the system, in which you were trying to develop these creatures. i got quite excited when they evolved, i was so curious about the next form. however, it was somewhat a disappointment that all the creatures developed by level 60 or so, making the remaining 40 somewhat anticlimactic. you eventually would become powerful enough to beat the final masters, trainers or whatever, and I never had a lust to complete the pokedex for any particular reason.

im saying i know the world of cosplay or D&D, or magic the gathering, I think people like games that involve them more. or can be social. many things are games in a way. playing music can be seen as a game. some games are purely social, like second life.

like world of warcraft, im not sure, there will always be somewhat of a "dork" aspect to that whole universe or sci fi appeal. in the same way as star wars fans. its like any fandom will become dorks .games are always limited and they are always somewhat surreal and disappear when the machine is turned off.
it may be escapism, but the reality people may discover a lot about themselves. it may be an outlet they can't find in real life.
dressing up as a mannequin for sheer sake of appearance is another expression, being an "elf" or "druid" in a game is just dressing up digitally. its dressing the personality

i really dont judge people often, because everything is a phase for the most part
