I'm a 30 yo with two young children. If I were to go outside wearing 99% of the recommendations in /fa/ I'd look like an utterly retarded tool. So what do I do?

How do I do "dadcore" correctly? Recommendations on brands and clothes?

>> No.10512008

You're 30 and you already look middle aged? How did that happen?

>> No.10512017

I don't look middle aged. I actually look young for my age. I just look like an idiot walking around with two young children wearing most of the stuff on here.

You don't come here for fashion advice, you come here to laugh at how incredibly stupid all the kids look

Do you want to actually dress dadcore or do you want to dress well? They aren't the same thing at all

Dress like Hall. Hall core or Dr. House core.

It's weird to see an OP that actually needs dadcore instead of a noob mfa reddit faggot who actually likes dadcore.

just ask some adults about how to dress more adult and you'll be fine.

Ok, common misconception. Dadcore refers to what actual 40 year old out of shape dads wear, such as walmart jean shorts with mid-calf white socks and whatnot.

If you want to dress well for just a general occasion, I got you. Keep in mind this is just my opinion on stuff, do not feel obligated to follow me word for word here.

>Shoes
Either a suede or suede-esque pair of oxfords or leather boots. Tons of choices, I would just search around online and find something you like in that category.

>Socks
Your call, either go no-show or tall patterned ones. If they're showing, they should compliment the outfit rather than draw attention to just the socks, so probably no crazy obnoxious patterns

>Pants
If you want to wear jeans, I would wear a dark denim that is a slim-straight cut. Honestly just try on some Levi's 511's and see if you like them. Shouldn't be skin tight but it should also look like you have actual legs and not just cylinder blocks.
Same thing for chinos/slacks, slim fit but not tight.
I personally like the length to end at the top of my shoe with little to no bagging.

>Shirts
Bare minimum should be a well fitting tee. That mostly refers to the sleeves being small enough. If you're wearing the shirt, tuck your fingertip under the sleeve and pull outwards away from your arm without stretching the shirt. I'd say there should be no more than an inch or so between your finger and your arm if it is a well-fitting shirt.
Stay away from graphic shirts at all costs.
I'm not going to explain how a dress shirt should fit you because that's already all over the internet, but wear them. You know how some dress shirts have that variable height on the bottom where it's longer in the front and back and shorter on the sides? Tuck those in. If it doesn't look right tucked in, it doesn't go with the outfit. You can get ones that have a level hem at the bottom like a tee, those you can wear open over a tee shirt if you want. They look a little weird buttoned up.

Yeah I knew that, I just didn't know what to call what I was looking for. "dadcore" done right.

Thanks for all the advice, very helpful.

21 in 3 months time.
I'm never going to move out. I'm going to live with my parents forever and spend 100% of my money from my part time supermarket job on overpriced clothes.

>Shirts cont'd
I roll up my dress shirt sleeves on hot days or in warm rooms and I think the lazy cuff looks best, where you just unbutton the sleeve buttons, roll the sleeve inside-out over the cuff, then just roll it one more time. It will look weird if the sleeve doesn't fit you.
Sweaters are always cool, you just have to find one that goes with the outfit. I don't like the dress shirt/sweater combo myself, but you can experiment with it yourself if that's what you're all about.
Oh, and I should mention that V-necks are totally out of style and rarely look good except for on an occasional sweater. When in doubt, go crew neck.

>Coats
I would recommend well fitting military surplus or well fitting wool coats. Pretty much the only acceptable adult coats are based on military clothes anyway. Don't do a peacoat.

>Accessories
Belt should generally match the shoes but it doesn't really matter if no one will see your belt. If I wear a watch, it has to match my belt and my shoes or I go mad. Accessories is where a lot of subtle individualism comes in, so just play around with what you think you might like.

hi mate, i found myself in the same predicament as you not long ago. here is what i filled my wardrobe with:

1. various polo shirts; (avoid t shirts)
2. straight fit jeans (like jcrew jeans, RRL)
3. boat shoes or casual loafers (avoid sneakers)
4. sweaters and windbreakers (avoid hoodies)

i guess the message here is, avoid looking like adam sandler. dont look like an overgrown toddler, or a guy in his 30's trying to cling on to his teenage years by wearing vans and skate apparel. dress like an adult.

Tattoos are idiotic. It's like looking at a t-shirt and saying, "I like this shirt so much, I'm going to wear it for the rest of my life."

I've never seen someone with tattoos who either wouldn't look better without them, or wouldn't look better without them sometime in the not so distant future.
