I buzzed my head on the 1st of October to a 2 on sides/back and 4 on top, which at this point isn't obvious at all since my hair is so blonde, but I wanted to know how long the top of your head should be until you can get a noticeable undercut with a obvious separation in the two lengths.

I'm trying to get it by Halloween, so one month of growth. I would be trimming the sides/back back down to a 2 or maybe a 1.

Probably going for something like pic related, but w/o gel

a good point to note is that attractive girls will always look attractive regardless of most haircuts if they do basic hygenic things. that being said, medium (shoulder length) to long hair looks best in most cases

What should I do with my hair?
I've cut it short and dyed it black before but I didn't really care for it.
I kept it shorter then it is now but still a little loose while dyed blonde. Looked pretty good IMO.
I've also done the super short sides while gelling it + blowdry a longer top. I liked it, I think it looked alright, though some of my mates jokingly called me macklemore.
Not sure I want a repeat of that.
I've also got it cut in a 40's style with lots of gel, hardpart, and pushed up a bit on top.
Not bad looking but not really worth it imo.
Thoughts?

Was in the same boat a few years ago.
Just go through with it and stop the shampoo regimen, your hair grease production needs to adjust to not being exposed to shampoo every day. After a week at most it should even out and hair strength will improve immensely (from being brittle and strawy from shampoo-ing every day).

Shampoo every sunday or so for good measure.

Still wash with water everyday though

Going to go to barber tomorrow and shave.
What should I do?
I recently started asking them to cut my sides to a 1, and let the top grow out, its been maybe a month and a half, and it looked nicer with the top shorter, but I want to be more bold, and keep it growing. what would you guys suggest?

Yeah, im thinking a type of fade is my only option. however, i was hoping that I'd have more options since my hair isn't as coarse as the one you posted. I'm morroccan, so my hair grows more curly than nappy. if I just let it continue to grow uncontrollably for say 2 more months it'll look like this
