I use them as work/motorcycle boots. The Made in England ones are shit: stitching isn't as consistent as the Thai/Chinese makes and the leather is tougher, but also more like plastic and doesn't like being creased often. There are a few write ups online about Thai/Chinese/UK comparisons, but most of them are written by English fanboys. The truth is they're not as good.

Just grab a cheap pair off Amazon and call it a day. Wear them to work for a few days and they'll be good.

Not him, but where I live Docs are a staple in many gay mens' wardrobes. To be more specific, they are worn by the more effeminate of gay men. This is pretty strange, considering how boots are generally seen as masculine footwear. But, in any case, it has become a way of flagging yourself in front of other gays.
