What are the best brands/choices in scrubs?

What kind of shoes can be used with them?

>> No.10431748

like to wear Rosheruns or Air Max with them, white or something discreet. flashy colors look like you're trying to hard.

>> No.10431782

I was thinking about Nike Kaishi or Free 5.0. (black, monochromatic), maybe some Diesel shoes.

Any experience with Cherokee or Dickies scrubs?

>> No.10431868

I have been wearing Cherokee and Landau scrubs since I was 17, almost exclusively
Also tried Jockey, Mizuno JP, Wink, and Carhartt

I'll just go down the line, with what I know. By the way, I'm an RN

>Wink
Decent design (literally the worst main pockets of any scrubs. Patch pocket masterrace) but the fabric isn't very comfortable. Tops fit pretty true to size compared to other scrubs, which is useless in application, and the starchy fabric doesn't help either. Haven't tried the pants

>Mizuno
Double the cost of other scrubs and basically the same quality of fabric (but with better pocket arrangement on the pants) as Jockey. I'm a fan, but they're to expensive

> Jockey
Slim fitting scrubs (I've only tried the tops. Pants don't have enough pockets for me) that are ludicrously comfortable; they're a poly cotton blend with some elasticity, I think...they hold up pretty well to heavy use in a hospital setting
Pockets are too small though

>Landau
I've worn Landau tops as my work staple. Lots of pockets, good fit, sturdy. Pants are kinda fucky though. They're super huge (medium is like a 38" waist) and the back pocket is on the left side. I've bought one pair of the pants and am not a fan. Tops are fucking great though

> Cherokee
Best tops I've tried, hands down. Soft but sturdy, pockets are great, good price. My closet probably has 15 or 20 in all....even my oldest ones have held up really well

>Carhartt
I just got my first pair of Carhartt ripstop pants during tax free weekend and they're awesome. Very sturdy but still comfortable. They breath well. Lots of pockets. I already bought two more pairs
Didn't proofread this post so hopefully it's aight.

Fuck
Typo
Cherokee makes my favorite pants. The tops suck they don't have enough pockets

>> No.10431895

>>10431878
I have 4 Cherokee sets, all my tops have the two waist pockets and breast pocket. The pants have two cargo side leg pockets and 1 butt pocket.

They're very comfortable and breathable, they're not fa, but scrubs aren't really fa... Especially when you have to be squatting/giving showers/sweating in them. I overuse mine a lot and they've never ripped or shrunk, and they dry fast when wet.

I'm a CNA in an assisted living, they have a memory unit with a lot of hospice care so there's heavy lifting and cleaning.

Wish I got paid better, I'm always working night shift though and busy and can't seem to get a meeting in to discuss a pay raise.

Not much I can say about that man
I went straight to nursing school
All I can tell you is to tread lightly cuz managers will for you for insolence. Get out of it as soon as you can and become a paramedic. Training isn't long, great experience, and you can make a lot more money

Yeah, this place already has a bad rap for that. They had a few people quit already because they'd been working here for 5-10 years plus and asked for a raise and management said no.

They don't care because they can just hire someone else for cheaper.

I'm working on finishing my B.S. then going to physical therapy DED program

Yeah but I know medical directors of SNFs and even the owner of one on a personal basis
You gotta remember that there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed on an administrative basis that make it difficult to offer raises to employees that don't generate any income
Not that the work isn't important...it is and I have a ton of respect for the aides and PCTs that I work with, but there are limitations to what how much pull you have because of the letters after your name

One more thing: every aide I know has said that the hospital is waaaaay easier than the nursing home. Consider moving if it ever gets bad where you work. It'll be a cake walk

Some people say the fabric blend (65% polyester/35% cotton) in Cherokees makes them vulnerable to pill, is it true?

>> No.10433307

>>10432887
Yeah the pants do; but the trade-off is that they stretch pretty well
Basically unless they had elastic in the crotch like reigning champ bottoms then they're gonna pill

don't paramedics make roughly $14/hour

while certified nurses make a starting wage of around $80,000 (60 hour work week but still)

Paramedics only make $14 an hour in burgerland?
Here in Aus we start out at about 50k/year while learning and end up on about 100k. What's up with the discrepancy?

>> No.10433430

Hey gents,

Just my 2 cents, been working as an ICU RN at a busy inner-city shithole hospital for 3 years.

I can vouch for Carhartts, super durable and great pockets, but IMO the ripstop is not comfortable after a while. Fit is very masculine.

The Cherokee stretch scrubs are probably the comfiest and have good pockets as well, but be careful because some are unisex and they blouse out at the waist.

My most durable pair are from Aviator scrubs, and are very heavy and have enough pockets for pretty much everything. They don't breath as well, but are built to last. I think they may even be Milspec. Fits are loose and boxy.

I work as a sleep scientist at a hospital and make $30/hour watching movies while people sleep. Fuck getting paid half that to save lives.

RNs can literally make as much as they want, with tradeoffs
I make 28 an hour base pay but work in a suuuper well staffed/low stress job. My next door neighbor makes 45 an hour and works float pool. Trade-off: zero benefits, so if he calls in, there are no ptos and no health insurance in case he were ever sick
Then you can work in Saudi Arabia and have a 3:1 ratio on the floor (normal ratio here is 6:1) and make 100k tax free EASY
Trade-off: women don't get treated very well and the weather blows
My sister makes less than I do and had a worse assignment; trade-off: requires less training than my job. And she hates overtime so she's usually at like 78 hours per paycheck, as opposed to me at 120+. I work 4 and 4, which is a grind
Oh and then you can become a NP or CRNA and make 6 figures easy but risk ending up in a deposition/having your name on the physician notes or anaesthesia record for someone who will sue
I'm terms of the likelihood that you'll get sued, it's generally ER then ICU then tele then med surg. And the pay difference is so slight that most people aren't willing to take the risk

>> No.10435565

How come you don't get your scrubs from the hospital you're working in? The places I've been in so far supplied the staff with scrubs in all sizes etc especially in surgery and ICU because they have to be cleaned thoroughly and you usually change them a couple of times a day...
