Eat 2 pounds on marshmallow candy and some eggs. Clean the bearings with IPA, then apply lube, you can get it from your ass. It should look a bit like wallpaper paste, but it's not as thick and is brownish. 90 % of the time it works and you get enough of the good stuff. This is advice originally handed to me by the master chef Connor Riddle

Honestly I hate the current standard skater style, it's so boring and cookie cutter. Some washed out, rolled up, regular fit jeans, high socks, an over priced white T, and maybe a supreme 5 panel. Shoes are either vans, cons, or a rip of any of those iconic styles. Same boring style involving no-complying and slappying everything to.

Yeah you can still do plenty of tricks on them, but the more technical stuff will be more awkward owing to the non-symmetric shapes.

They're killer for cruising (especially as my commute is 2+ hours to college) and bowls, though. Most of them cost the same amount as a regular deck so it's all largely down to preference.

While I don't have a pic right now, I mainly rotate between a Rob Roskopp reissue and a Welcome Magic Bullet with the Krampus graphic (my German teacher has a hard on for it). All in all, they're pretty nice to ride, yet, don't forget you're probably gonna have to go up in truck size to accommodate.

I'd also recommend decks from Black label or Assault Skateboards. Socalskate has some blank shaped decks but I can't say how those are.

I like the style. Its simple functional and can look good. The way some people wear it is kind of cookie cutter but I personally think its best to take certain aspects of the style that appeal to you and add it to what you're already doing so you can develop your own thing. It's such a simple base too so it's easy to add your own spin to it to make it your own. I think what i'm more drawn to though is the ambience of east coast skating. Skating gritty spots and sketchily landing tricks is more appealing to me than watching a skater perfectly land trick after trick. It's not just about the clothes for me it's a combination of the atmosphere, clothing, style of skating, and environment that's being skated that i take inspo from.

The style of skating nd skatewear depends on the area you are in imo. Where i live in Ohio we don't have many skateparks so we all do street/flat ground and we dress for the impact, be it shoe with impact, long sleeves over tees tall socks under the pants

Don't fear getting hurt lol. Get over being afraid of falling. Make sure bearings are cleaned and oiled properly. Find an empty parking and practice being comfortable standing and pushing on board. Also don't skate on bumby surfaces like a sidewalk. Skate in the street

Just skateboard the other half of the year and if your going to be riding in areas with shitty pavement make sure to ride some big wheels. It'll make your ride smoother and more bearable.

That's good advice. I'll have to do some research on the proper board though since there's a large variety of pavements and curves that are patched together in my area. Maybe I'll actually go to a local shop to buy it.

Having something less cumbersome than a bike that can move me faster than walking really appeals to me. Is it hard to skate with a heavy bag (not large in size, just heavy?)

Wanted to be pro skater
Quit skating in high school.
About to graduate from medical school, hyper-aware of every injury I could get, every nerve I could damage, every artery and muscle I could fuck up and end up with chronic pain, addicted to opioids etc. etc.

Bought a 7.5" x 28.65" (short) deck so I don't credit card and kill my testikleez.
Re-learning how to skate with the "lightest" gear possible. Tensor Maglight Lo, etc. and wrist pads (#1 injury in skateboarding is broken wrist!)

Practice and commit. if you don't fully commit when doing a trick you won't land it. I used to be afraid of doing tricks while moving cause i was afraid of falling but after fully committing a couple times, falling, and finally landing them you realise there's no reason to be worried. Also tutorials helped me. Ride channel has some good ones.
