If you look on the left side, you'll notice my hair gets very thinned out and lighter, that's because I have a rather large bald spot (from surgery) there, that I'd rather cover up. It's a pain to deal with when it's windy out, so I generally just wear a cap.
Any advice?

I've started to grow my hair out, but I want to change my shitty CVS shampoo/conditioner that I'd been using infrequently. My hair is thick and straight. What sham/conditioner should I use to get smooth, silky hair?

So I wanted to try growing my hair long too see what it's like for the first time, but like 6 months later it's looking like shit.
It's too frizzy, curly, dry, thick or whatever to look good long.

So I'm gonna get a haircut tomorrow, any recommendations? Whenever I put anything in my hair it doesn't stick or work so I just want something kinda simple but somewhat /fa/ I guess.

Anything that would look good with my specific facial structure/hair texture?
I've been just styling it as a messy quiff lately, so kind of similar to pic related, but keep in mind that I'm very sick and haven't showered, so it's worse than usual.
I was planning on cutting the sides down to a half an inch again, getting the top trimmed a bit, and also tapering the length towards the back a bit, but I'm still unsure.

You don't have to take my opinion as fact, but I think it is an early stage. On the flip side, a lot of people look good with shaved heads. If you're lucky you might be one of them. Not balding here, but I recently had a bad haircut and got pissed and shaved it almost all the way bald, like 1/16th buzz cut. Not everyone likes it, mom hates it, but my girl loves it and strangers always get out of my way when I walk, as opposed to both of us moving or me moving. Feels good.

If I were you I'd shave it close now so you can get used to your final stage and grow some scruff. Adopt a badass look early so when you have to shave it completely people will just think you like it that way.

You don't have to razor it, you can use one of these when it gets to that point. I know some bald guys (both intentional and genetic) who use them, they love these things.

My final form is a buzz cut, so beyond that I have no advice. Obviously you can chop it off but you can't put it back on.... Do you have any friends who are good with hair? I've used expensive and cheap shampoos and conditioners. All the shampoos seem to strip away too many of the natural oils in my hair. My hair looks great about a day after I've shampooed, and I shampoo once every 3 or 4 days.Right after, though, its not wavy and looks like I'm wearing a helmet. What are some good ways to fix this? I've tried using less shampoo, but it seems to be a all or nothing thing. Too little, my hair isn't clean. Too much, aforementioned problem. I was considering making some sort of mixture 4:1 water:olive oil and maybe getting just enough to cover my hands and then run them through my hair? All the gels and other products I've seen (not many) have been way to concentrated for me.

Take it short slowly, test a few lengths out. If you have any friends that cut hair, have them play with it a bit. You can take it off but can't put it back on. You seem to have a face that might be the right shape for a buzzcut, though you'd probably want to keep it a longer one.

Glasses, without seeing your eyes I'd say try going full dark, kind of that classic geek that seems to be in style, or the opposite, as light and unnoticeable as possible. I think glasses should either be fully embraced or as subtle as can be, so you should take my advice with a grain of salt.

Depends, are you doing it yourself, having a friend do it, or going somewhere?

My advice for anyone getting a buzzcut in any form is, unless they are doing a same length all around, have a barber do it. No need for anything expensive, just a standard barber. Whatever is cheap.

Odds are they know how to make it look good, and if they don't your hair will fix itself in a week or two at the most.

Regardless of how you do it, I'd ask them, or yourself, to do a cut all around with the longest clipper head they have. See how it looks. You might like it just like that. Some people can pull off a rounded buzzcut, and a longer one at that.

If you want it shorter on top, repeat this until you find the right top size.

Once you do that, ask yourself if you want the sides shorter. If you do, I 100% advise a fade. It looks cleaner. Any barber should be able to do this.

If you are doing it yourself, it's tricky. The best I can advise if make sure you have a clipper set that has some tools for it and watch a few tutorials.

If you're good you don't really need anything special, just a comb and some mirrors.

All that said, IF you like the look, don't bother going to the barber/stylist again. Buy a decent clipper kit, 20-40 dollars is more than enough to spend, just read the reviews, and do it at home as needed. Saves a ton of cash and keeps you looking fresh, not to mention gives you some extras to test if you feel bored.

Might be related to stress, but could also be how often you blowdry/straighten your hair as well as using too much product and even too much shampoo/conditioner. As a guy, my hairdresser friend in college told me to only use a dime sized amount. Not sure how that translates for girls.

Look up rogaine (minoxidil). Not for your head but for your facial hair. Your hair will go anyway soz m8, just accept it.

I applied minoxidil to my face for 6 months. Went from nothing on my face but baby hairs to a full beard.

Yeah I agree my glasses look a little more strange with a buzzcut now. I'll be up for new frames in a few months and was told before that I should go for a tortoise color to match my features more. I guess I could wear contacts for the mean time.
