most can
it might require a more imaginative cobbler, but most types of shoes can get some kind of replacement or remedial sole

the only things stopping this are:
price of the operation - might not be worth it for customer or cobbler, esp. if cheap as chips shoes
strength of the uppers - whether or not they can take a resoling.
there are paper shoes that obviously just flake apart in time

some people have had their clarks db's resoled.
that totally not worth it money wise, as the resole cost them like 60 bucks
but they wanted to keep the patina they'd made on that shoddy as "leather"
to each their own

ask a cobbler to see what can be done for your pair, whatever they may be

the better made shoes that use either a welt or stitchdown are so good because of the relative ease of resoling, and the fact that they are expressly made to be resoled multiple times.

>> No.10425910

>>10423792
>tan
the nice thing about tan leather, is if you treat it right over time it will develop a very nice, aged patina.

all leathers darken with wear over time
if you start out light, you'll get darker leather eventually

if you start out too dark, there's less chance to develop a beautiful aged appearance

i prefer lighter browns and tans for casual shoes and boots now for this express reason

unless the darker brown is of such a rich depth

it's more difficult to find such, and i've seen far too many "brown" examples of footwear that have that fugly mud/shit brown appearance

look at what the leddit mfa dweebs do to their redwings when they slather something like coconut oil or overkilnaufs weatherproofing
mudshit brown

featureless, texture less and without any character and depth

fucking disgusting

black is black is black and is exempt from this since it's in a class of its own

short people never look very fashionable imo, but boots really need certain framings to work properly
something like a work boot needs you to be more built and generally large/a bit imposing , and being short undercuts that
chelseas/such fashionable boots are made with elegant people in mind, tall and thin, which short people can't do
when they wear boots it just takes up too much of their body proportionally, and they look even more strange, idk how to explain it

Are combat boots actually /fa/ in America? Going out where I am in combat boots is like going out in factory overalls

hell no

>> No.10433563

Taking on a winter job in Colorado from November to April, gonna need some boots that will hold up in the snow. I live in Florida, I own 0 footwear appropriate for a snow-covered mountain. Recommendations, /fa/? Prefer to keep it $150 or under.

it depends on what you're trying to accomplish with your fit

you probably could have kept smoking anyway given that red wings are literally cancer

>> No.10433588

are malis cancer? what about doc martens

>> No.10433608

>>10433588

im not personally a fan of malis in the same way that I don't really like red wings; I think docs can look nice, however they're often styled horribly in horrendous colours like red etc

you dont have to take any of this on board, and im sure a nice pair of red wings will see you through for years to come. people will compliment them. I'd be more hesitant about longevity on malis/docs, but who knows

tldr, sort of cancer imo but not too bad for the price range

I think they look really nice. Might gonna cop a pair of Nisolos in the future. If you're opting for a cheaper version of these kind of shoes, you might want to look into http://us.asos.com/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=5304166&cid=4209&sh=0&pge=4&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Black&totalstyles=1472&gridsize=4&xr=2&xr=1&mk=na&r=3r=2&mporgp=L1JpdmVyLUlzbGFuZC9SaXZlci1Jc2xhbmQtQ2h1a2thLUJvb3RzLWluLUxlYXRoZXIvUHJvZC8..

I'm 5'9'', is that too short for boots? Is there a certain type of boot I could wear without looking goofy?

I like Viberg and Guidi

You're such a fuking idiot
You can wear pretty much all boots at 5 9

You said short people looked like shit with boots.

I'm the person you first responded to
you're probably fine, just try them on and gauge for yourself. I don't think 5'9's that short, I'm only 6ft and consider that ~average.
I was bitching more about severely short guys, I see a lot of "get my life together because I'm insecure about my height" type ones who get built and "into fashion" by way of that mfa-ish stuff, complete with workboots that look ridiculous on them

>> No.10434642

>>10434635
Alright. Yeah I guess I'm not midget-tier short but short enough that Timbs look really bulky on me so that's why I was wondering if Guidi boots or service boots would make me look like an elf.

yeah it's always like that

for sizing it's recommended to go half a size down if you've got skinny feet
make sure you look at the size table, some people say his EU sizing is a bit off

What sort of style would you recommend for someone that's 5'6"-5'7"?

just get judhpors or chelseas man

don't chelseas look strange on short people though? or is that just cuban heeled boots

>> No.10434686

>>10434672
depends on your style
i'm the same height as you
but yeah be aware of not getting ones that make it seem as though you're wearing them to look taller

>> No.10434699

>>10434635
I'm pretty short (1'70m) and wear wokboots just fine. As long as your proportions aren't fucked up (as in very short legs) it shouldn't be a problem at all. You may not want to tuck your pants in or wear super tall combat boots but even then I think that can be pulled off. Most workboots also have thick as fuck soles so whatever 'shortening effect' they may have is probably balanced out by that.

If you actually care that much I guess you can always wear boots and pants of the same color, which should help elongating your legs.
