right now I wear ray-banish style chunkier glasses that are pure plastic, clear plastic actually, that have no nose pads and sit directly on my face.

best decision in recent times. like they're entirely clear, so the light can come through and aren't the typical "buddy holly" style chunk

Had a doc appt today for first time in 3 years. Picked out some new frames. The lady that was there to take my measurements was absolutely of no help to tell me what suits my face. She just said to pick what I liked.

I hope I made the right decision..

Btw, if I bring in my own frames, how much does it usually cost to have the lenses for them inserted?

honestly it depends on where you go, what you get, and what your prescription is.

if your eyes aren't too bad and you don't have a stigmatism or whatever it's called then it shouldn't be too bad, cheap optometrists will charge you maybe
$60-120 for lenses, extra $50 for sunglasses, extra $50 for UV proofing, extra $50 for that other special coating on it which i generally don't get. if your eyes are a bit worse like mine are, it'll cost you a bit more, plus another $50 if you want the lenses thinned.

these are rough estimates, a cheaper brand name optometrist like warby parker/oscar wylee will be cheaper while pricate optometrist businesses will cost a bit more

Just recently buzzed my head and I'm up for new frames in a month or so and wanted to hear what you guys think.

I've been told that I should go for a more tortoise-like color to match my fairer features, but what frame shape should I go for?

Previously I wore pretty bulky, squarish, black frames, but they just don't seem right, especially with the new buzzcut, so I'll probably do contacts for a bit (though I do prefer glasses)

It's a dirty blonde/brown and I have light skin. I'd try on a few different pair first to make sure the contrast between them and your hair isn't too bold, or if you want that just go for it. Clear frames are a unique option, they can look great on some people.
