/tv/ had a discussion about Antonio B wanting capes to come back. Could it be done?

Also does anywhere know where to find this one or any other good looking capes? I'm willing to try it out.

They'll make a comeback, with celebs wearing them and the trend calling for a lot of draped clothing. it'll happen one iteration or another

No

Capes will NEVER be in style. This isn't 1700s Transylvania

That's not a cape, nor is what clothing stores like ASOS and H&M are selling as "capes". They're ponchos.

Womenswear designers have been pushing the little red riding hood shit for a while now so it could definitely jump to menswear. Personally I'd like to see a tech take on capes.

that's a poncho first of all, and they have been kinda common on mens runways for like the past 5 years so...

rick already has this down with some of his scarfs, but it would be cool to see an actual cape from rick, yohji, julius, or even rei.

>> No.10421524

No it's not. Ponchos are like blankets with holes cut in the middle to pull over your head. Cloaks have a front opening and are pulled around your shoulders, with only a clasp (or buttons) in front, and they can be tossed over one shoulder, like in OP's pic.

>mfw I have a $600 cloak made in italy of heavy wool
>mfw you retards think some fast fashion bullshit made of polyester you got for $40 is going to "drape"

Whether cloaks/capes are "in" or not, the handful of you with the balls to try them are too poor to do it right, so you will fail, give up, and quickly talk about how capes will never come back.

polyester drapes a lot depending on how it's woven, or even knit

Not him, and I won't defend polyester as a viable fabric for /fa/ discussion, but heavy wool has much less interesting "play"in the winter winds, which I think if key for a cloak. I would like a cloak with a taper, heavy on top, thin on the bottom. Some nice flutter and flow.

>>10421540
Shitposting aside (I'm the guy with the cloak), even heavy wool behaves really well in the wind. You'd be surprised by how much give it has, even with very thick material; in fact you probably don't really want something thinner on the bottom, because it'll "flap" more than it will flow. It'll just be too light.

Unless that's what you're going for; mine gets plenty of "play" in the wind, and I wouldn't want anything lighter. Also, you get a lot of movement simply from walking, so the wind isn't even a huge factor on its own.

I have the art. piave in grey. Considering picking it up in the dark khaki as well; it's fun to wear (if goofy), and surprisingly versatile. You can toss it on over a sweater if it's cold and snowing/raining, or if it's really freezing you can put it over your coat/top layer. Warm as fuck, too; it's like walking around in a blanket. I live in VA near DC and can sit outside all winter when I'm wearing that.

Also fun to put on; you hold it in front of you and spin it around, onto your shoulders.
