I'm currently a freshman at a small state school in New Hampshire but through the NSE I can spend a year there or at a bunch of other schools.

Honestly I want to get out of this school I'm at right now but my high school grades aren't good enough to transfer for Sophomore year. So I have to wait. But through NSE I can spend that year at another school and then potentially transfer to there. Essentially cheating my way to three years at a college I want a degree from. While only paying for two.

What would you say the best and worst aspects of your school are? Should I put it at the top of my list or underneath something like University of Washington?

Of course you can.

Step one: get into a mid-range school. Study like mad, take higher level classes than recommended, get some decent writing samples/lab experience (depending on what your major is) exit year with upper-3-to-4 GPA and (Step two:) transfer into something higher profile. Easy. Also helps if you get cozy with a prof and they write a rec. for you as well.

That's fucked. University system is so diseased right now. Anywho, if you're still fretting. Take the easy road of a mid-level Uni in-state for keeping costs as low as possible and then transfer. Be sure to start the transfer process after the Fall semester that way you can qualify for all the scholarship. You're looking at going 2/2, but you'd exit with a top-tier degree at half the cost.
