I'm hoping this is the right thread, I'm primarily a browser of /fit/ but I am heading into my third year of University this October, (Medicine brah here) however I work security in my off time to get me by financially, I need a pack that is durable as a tactical pack without the whole tactical look as I go straight to work from University and have some expensive radio's and gear with me for work. Thanks in advance chaps for any help/recommendations

bag 1: boston or weekender for 1-2 day trips. carry-on size. the only thing i want for sure.

bag 2: secondary duffle, larger than bag 1. possibly carry-on size, okay if larger. big enough for a 5-day trip.

would like one of them to be a 3-way bag (aka backpack straps).

between bag 1 and 2, should be covered for at least a week of travel. possibly double that (there's a 100L 3-way bag that might be overkill.)

not really interested in hard shell luggage. prefer things like duffels and backpacks that have multiple uses and can work in casual travel while not looking silly on a business trip.

prefer drab olive pieces, a slightly mil. surplus aesthetic. i think it dresses up or down pretty well and has a nice masculine vibe without whipping a dick out. contemplated buying actual military surplus but don't want something stained and ratty. would rather invest in something with great construction.

also like the way drab olive mixes with leather, if i add a leather duffle at some point. not messing with leather now because it would double my budget. also like how it works with blaze orange.

black is a fallback, but it honestly bores me.

i like some of topo designs bags and the more subtle colorways, but it's a bit to casual/campercore than what i'm looking for.

Was temped by their duffle in olive. Really nice looking.

Yeah expensive couple of porter bags, but I couldn't get them out of my mind after seeing them. Also have pic related, so i kinda have a matching blaze orange/olive thing going. The duffle for long trips, the old jansport for my camera.

Pretty fuckin happy with the lot. Think I'm done bag shopping for the decade unless I look for a replacement for my 5+ night hiking bag.

Earlier today I saw what looked from far away like a Bedale
It was a knockoff made by Abercrombie and Fitch
One has waxed cotton, awesome hardware, and a classic corduroy collar, plus the capacity for a removable inner liner and removable hood
The other was made by A&F

How often do you guys buy backpacks?

I've had my current one for nearly 4 years, and it's so worn that it's about 3-4 different shades of brown depending how severely it's been bleached by the sun/elements.

I don't really see a reason to replace it unless one of the straps breaks. One of them is getting sort of frayed, but it still has plenty of life in it.

I have the Mission Workshop Sanction. Was it worth the money? Definitely (though I got mine used for $130)

The quality is incredible and it is waterproof. I ended up copping a waist belt for mine at the official store in SF.

I will eventually sell mine and upgrade to a higher model. The higher models are so technical that I can justify the insane price tags.

I highly recommend the Sanction pack. After 6 months of use, I rate it a 9/10. Sometimes I wish it was bigger.
