Is goth still a thing?

I kind of want it to still be a thing.

I secretly wish all things seen as "abnormal" were more normal so I could dress like a total freak and it would be okay.

Sadly, this is not the case.

Every time I get drunk I sort of want to dress up in deep red and black lace and get a girlriend who wears corsets.

It's still a thing if you want it to be, I also get the feeling it's gonna make a comeback very soon.

Nobody gives a shit, and those that do aren't worth giving shits about their shits ya know. Dress how you want, live your life how you want.

Yes and no.

Goth never really had a strict definition, it was just an umbrella term to describe an emerging subculture in the 80's that focused on darker subject matter, like death and depression.
Some embraced it, some rejected it. To this day people will still get incredibly butt-flustered trying to define who or what is or isn't goth.

The only consistent theme amongst it all is seeing an inherent beauty in things often thought of as macabre or negative, typically with a slant towards artistic and creative intentions.
But even that's a broad definition, and whether what that means to you is dressing in and embracing outlandish or extreme fashion and art, or being reserved; sombre and abstract in your tastes and forms of expression is up to your own ideals.

Goth is a label, and is both all, and none, of what that label gets applied to.
Dress and act how you feel comfortable, and don't worry too much about other peoples judgements of you.

I kinda wish health goth would have become a thing, instead of just an internet meme. I would love seeing cardiobunnies in fishnets, black tracksuits and dyed black hair.

>> No.10357033

I guess its kinda coming back. A couple of my friends started posting goth fits under the name of victorian goth.

Goth had a baby named emo and tried to murder it. Now its just kind of a vague hodge podge if you wear any black people call you emo/goth.
