I consider myself an artist, but I feel like I don't look the part.
I want to develop my wardrobe so I look more like the hip young artist of America.
Where should I go to get my clothing?
Any tips?

YSL if you can afford it
KVA if you can't afford YSL
COS if you can't afford KVA
Zara if you can't afford COS
If you can't afford Zara you're truly an artist, go thrift

All clothing is a production of human society. A true avante guarde artist would reject such things and go nude.

Ew.

Just dress in a way that appeals to you. If you are truly an artist, you'd know better than to dress like some sort of stereotypical concept of what an artist is supposed to look like. Exercise creativity goddammit.

But if you must have some sort of tip: assuming you're poor and want to stand out, go thrift shopping and look for weird and unique pieces you can mix into a modern outfit.

Yeah its a really nice wardrobe, because it takes the guesswork out of getting dressed in the morning.

Really great in winter because nobody even bothers you about why you are wearing all black.

The thing is, as of late, my current wardrobe hasn't appealed to me.
I've seen myself become more alternative over the past couple of years, but my style hasn't changed much.

The point of being an artist is to just be yourself. Just work on your art and your wardrobe will follow.

My art school is split in to 3 sub schools; fine art (painting, sculpture, photography etc.), design (fashion, textiles, graphic etc) , and architecture.

The people who are in the school of design dress like in your picture, but in the school of fine art people buy most of their clothes from thrift stores and it looks much more understated.

Cropped pants, plain tees, beaters, and some shitty white guy tourist hat with a small ass logo on it. Maybe a tote bag to carry your shit to look even more like a dweeb.

Every art student

Dress how you like, worry more about your art then how you present yourself as an artist. it's best not to fall into stereotype
