Can anyone comment on the leather on Common Projects? I own MMM Gats and the leather is absolute god tier, love feeling it. If Common Projects have leather as good, i'll probably cop.

If not, can anyone recommend sneakers with the feel of Margiela leather?

it is one step below imo

it is still very good and holds up VERY well, but nothing compares to MM

I love my MMM Gats more than I like most people tbh. The leather feels so buttery and amazing, the suede feels so soft. The construction is just so god tier, I feel like there aren't any shoes I can cop that compare both aesthetically and physically.

Idk what it is, but in images the leather on common projects looks really thick and plebian. It's a shame because I'd like to cop some all leather sneakers that I can carelessly wear and beat up

>> No.10311918

it's definitely very different, but i don't think it should deter you from buying CPs.

i can post a quick 360° webm of the shoe if you want. seems to be a common question

i think it's also common consensus to stay away from anything besides the white achilles low, but it's your decision in the end

>> No.10311936

that'd be great man.

Also, why is that? I'm not really in the market for white shoes

>> No.10312146

>>10311936
idk i think other colors are better fulfilled by other shoes. personally, i'm not sure how to fit them in my wardrobe, so i just stay away from them

navy leather just looks odd

the black will look very normal after a while, and black leather sneakers just sound weird; almost like you're better off looking for a shoe that's not a sneaker

webms r uploading, i ended up just highlighting the parts where i feel like you can see the leather's ageing properties

i have owned this pair for ~1 year, and i probably wear it 2-3 times per week

quality is garbage i will have to upload some other time

My CPs have looked the same after a year. The leather holds up well. And they're extremely comfortable.

>>10311936
Black CPs look like work shoes. But they also look like sneakers, so whatever. I bought white CPs to replace them although I still wear the blacks occasionally.

I recommend Kris Van Assche if you want god tier leather. My CPs and SLP are Zara-tier in comparison.

the leather is phenomenal, no regrets.

The only people that hate on CPs are those that have never tried them on.

CP's are definitely a different kind of leather. CP leather is thicker and tougher feeling. MMM leather is more delicate, soft, buttery. I prefer MMM leather personally, but it's more a matter of preference than anything.

maybe somewhat surprisingly svensson sneakers have the nicest leather I have ever touched. that was way back in 2011 or so though so maybe things have changed. but man... sliding my feet into those things just felt amazing.

I own a few pairs of cps and mmm gats:
The white leather on the outside of the MMM gats is inferior to common projectss. The cream colored leather inside is a bit softer than cps -- overall i'd say like the leather is in between the buttery soft leather inside gats and the shittier hard leather outside.

it would be a valid term if used correctly. once people started referring to certain modern nikes as 'buttery' it sadly did turn into a buzzword

>>10311908
>leather looks plebeian
then don't buy them, why did you make this thread? Common projects have great quality leather but if it looks bad to you then don't buy them. You're retarded, you love your GATS and that's cool, but they aren't the end-all-be-all of quality

>> No.10313841

>>10312501
I've owned them for more than a year... They're definitely not buttery on the outside... And they're lined with fabric. If you think the exterior eather on the mmm gats is good then cp leather will seem godly to you LOL.

The Achilles black has softer leather than the white BTW. I think black leather on sneakers in general is somewhat softer -- my black Raf Velcro are soft as hell while I hear the leather on the white ones are a bit harder.

>> No.10315053

>>10313841
sorry m8ty the fact that you think that the leather on the GATS aren't soft makes me doubt you. maybe you didn't wear them enough

>>10312963
I wanted to learn about the leather. I was under the impression that the leather was thicker as opposed to softer like the MMM, but i wanted to see if I was proven wrong. looks like unfortunately, the leather on the CPs are thick and tougher like the images imply

>> No.10315072

>>10311570
That's interesting because MMM gats are objectively very poor quality for the price. Mine were fairly weakly constructed and the leather creased like mad. That being said, I wouldn't say my CPs were any better leather-wise, but the construction is miles better.

honestly the leather just isn't that great, it's a step above your basic stan smiths and other leather shoes but if you've handled other high end footwear it's nothing special lol

>> No.10315355

>>10315165
wow, well i'm gonna have to disagree. i own Stan smiths and the leather is shit core. I also own some high end shoes and margiela leather is leaps and bounds the best i've felt on sneakers. I'm tired of the thick leather on my other shoes.
