These are your alternatives from Chippewa:

http://www.zappos.com/chippewa-apache-lace-up-chocolate
http://www.zappos.com/chippewa-service-boot-crazy-horse
http://www.zappos.com/chippewa-6-mens-lace-up-boot-brown
http://www.zappos.com/chippewa-american-handcrafted-gq-apache-lacer-boot-brown

RW is superior in terms of quality but some people don't like their bulbous toe. Wolverine is a little dressier and not great in terms of consistency in the quality of their shit. Chippewa might be your best option. Decide according to your needs and preference in aesthetics.

can we talk about boot maintenance? I use Collonil products cuz I saw them in a magazine lol (I know Saphir gets a lot of love here but I still haven't tried them out)
Basically, wipe the boots with a wet cloth, dry the boots, apply Collonil Creme de Luxe with a polishing brush, air dry, apply 1909 Supreme Protect

How often can you find Wolverine 1000 mile on sale? I feel like I've seen them for well under $360/400 a handful of times.

Also, taking any recommendations for a pair that can withhold a shit ton of rain from dat dere El Nino this year.

Yeah. If you leave them in your cart for a few days they'll give you like 10% off and there was an anniversary sale for $70 CAD off at the end of June and early July, but I wouldn't expect something like that again.

That's true, and no matter which one you buy the result with be the same.

You'll like your boots, and then when the novelty wears off you'll start wishing you got the other pair. But that will just be your subconscious trying to get you to trigger another dopamine rush that comes with buying new shit.

>I feel like I've seen them for well under $360/400
they're only worth bothering with if you can get them well, well under that
if you can't then don't bother and save your pennies for something better made

wolverine skimp on construction and leather soles with no protector don't exactly last long, especially in the rain if that's why you were interested in them

called "rub-off"

if not then tread with caution

I just personally can't stand them bro

But really I've never known red wing to be bad quality except one line of boots that just used different leather iirc and it wasn't either of these. You can go into the store and literally spend hours trying on whatever you want and walking in different sizes. Basically, go to a red wing store (which you should do with red wing anyway, sizing is different between models in my experience) and try on both pair in your favorite jeans. Both are good boots that will last you with care and neither are out of style.

I've actually seen these worn with a light khaki pant and i can honestly say it's the only moc toe I've ever liked when seen worn. There wasn't anything special about the fit, the colors just looked good together. Pretty sure it was these boots because of the way they're pieced together.
