Hey /fa/, /v/irgin here.

So I would really appreciate your input on business fashion. I am 5'9" (manlet jokes) and weigh 170. I am 27, have an athletic build and work as a financial risk analyst at a very large financial institution. I usually wear stuff from express, but I feel like the colors fade and the wrinkles take forever to iron out. I'm super over battling the ironing board. I was looking for a new brand and overused your board a while. Maybe being a brand whore isn't good but it makes life simple, you know? Is there anything you recommend, maybe wrinkle free? What are the brands to hit without breaking my modest wallet? I'm just tired of what I'm wearing, and I don't know what I'm doing fashion wise. So here I am. Thanks in advance.

Theory makes excellent button downs. You can get them for pretty cheap on eBay.

Ultimately, if you want quality, you're going to have to shell out, even if you take the effort to only buy clearance and used.

>> No.10299745

Thanks, those definitely look pretty nice. I definitely would need to pick up on a discount for sure, never thought about eBay. I will keep an eye out. Any other recommendations?

>27
>risk analyst
>large hedge fund
>wears express
>modest wallet

I'm afraid we all know you aren't feeling the truth. Investment bankers wouldn't be caught dead in express, you wouldn't have a modest budget and furthermore I refuse to believe that a 27 year old would shop at a store as juvenile as express.

>> No.10299939

I'm not an investment banker. I work as a financial risk analyst. I examine risk exposure from our various products. Checking / savings timing risk, equity, mortgages, loans, mbs, etc. My wallet is modest because I also support my mom. If you're done picking at me, I would just like your input and opinion. No need to be rude.

j crew factory and mainline on sale may be good alternatives and worth a look. they both offer pretty good sales too.

Go to google and type in "/fa/ sticky" and absorb knowledge. Seriously it has all the basic info you'll need and all in one place instead of waiting for replies and wading through the memes

he never said he worked at a hf. also risk analysts dont do ib you mong. even credit unions employ risk analysts.

>> No.10299967

I'll check out j crew. I visited the tuxbell site and tried to absorb knowledge as I could. Fashion doesn't sink in easy for me, and it left me slightly overwhelmed. I appreciate the input so far for sure so thanks. Are there any kinds of shoes you guys recommend for my setting?

For the love of God, don't buy some cheap wrinkle-free suits. Just buy a proper suit and take it to the dry cleaner every now and then, you cheap son-of-a-bitch. Aren't you supposed to be working at a "large financial institution" God, what a douche you are)?

Go for a nice, clean oxford, OP.

I did not say suit, amigo. I would love a nice suit, but I was looking for more day to day stuff that looks good for my setting. The reason I said large financial institution wasn't for any kind of chest pounding, it was purely to understand where I am at setting wise. I agree about getting a nice suit. Is combatant gentleman any good for more run of the mill stuff?

I googled and I really like the Oxford, thank you

>>10300060
I lift 4x a week.

Thanks for all this feedback so far, I like where this is going. What do you guys like for your business settings?

Just make sure to buy from a decent brand, at the very least. If you're extremely tight on your budget, Herringshoes and Loake 1880-series are good starters.

If you can up your budget a bit, try looking at brands like Carmina, Crocket & Jones, Santoni etc.

And remember, if an American gives you compliments on your shoes, you bought the wrong pair.
