Occasionally if I have a blank white tee + inspiration, I'll draw something on it with washproof sharpie.

At the moment I'm trying to fade a pair of strong green chucks to super pale colours. Tried to do it organically by submerging in water for a week, but that did shit all, you can barely see the difference. Next step is bleach I guess, but I don't wanna ruin the shoes.

Any advice? What to do other than bleach? And if I have to do bleach, any idea of the sort of ratio/time spent submerged I should go for?

>> No.10277453

>>10277441

You could leave em out in strong and direct sunlight for a few hours/days.

If you're going to bleach, it's best to do it 50/50 water/bleach. Otherwise you'll fuck up the fabric.

>> No.10277459

>>10277453
50/50 sounds like a fucking lot of bleach, how long would I be submerging with that? I'm probably more worried about ruining the rubber tbh

I tried sunlight but my flat has awkward window placement meaning I only get sunlight in the mornings and early afternoons, and it's winter in NZ so I hardly get it consistently. Definitely not enough to significantly sun-bleach my shoes

>> No.10277476

>>10277459

The rubber is the least of your worries, the fabric deteriorates pretty fast if you use too much bleach. Just google it.

Which colour did you bleach? I don't plan on bleaching them to white, I only want to make them a significantly paler green, basically pic related but probably a tiny bit paler. Would stopping before the bleach gets rid of all the colour help reduce that orange/brown effect, do you think?

>> No.10277817

>>10277555
>>10277772

Only the black ones bleach to that rusty brown/orange colour. Basically because the black is a highly highly saturated dense red tint. Taking away from the dye through bleach unveils it's red/brown/orange core.

The green will bleach to lighter green, that's what colours do.

>> No.10277865

>>10277817
Awesome, thanks anon. My roommate buys fucktonnes of bleach cos he cleans the bathroom exclusively with it so imma steal some and see how I go. How long approximately would you expect it'd take to bleach if I'm using 50% dilution?

>> No.10277894

>>10277865
I'd say mix up a big bucket 50/50. Dunk the shoes in and see what gives. If it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all, leave em in for half an hour an dcheck up. If it's doing something straight away, stay with it untill it has the colour you want. After that, take em out and rinse thoroughly. It really depends on the fabric and the colouring of your chucks. Just use commn sense and monitor the process.

It's best to put them both in at once too. Otherwise you might end up with two differently coloured shoes.

>>10277866
Yeah, could be something along those lines as well. Point is, black doesn't bleach to grey but to the colour it's saturated with.

>> No.10277904

>>10277894
Awesome, should be a fun experiment. My biggest bucket only just fits both so it'll be tight and only the toebox won't be submerged but it should work out. Worst case scenario, they'll look pale but also fucked up which could be nice tbh

>> No.10277935

>>10277904

The toebox can stick out, the rubber won't be affected by the bleach. The only real danger is leaving it in too long and thus damaging the fabric, making it prone to early ripping. Otherwise, it's pretty straightforward and failproof.

bleach them with not too strong bleach, but dont submerge all the way, last time i did that it just ripped where it meets the rubber. ive been meaning to try two methods, just putting them in upside down, which would make like a fade, since it doesnt reach all the way to the rubber, and then also try brushing it on or something, havent decided the method of application, this of course would require an extra strong bleach or whatever product, but could create cool patterns. ill probably never get around to it tbh.

This is cool as fuck but you needed to get the crimson to be either a pale pink, a light beige or cream color.

You also need to layer on the sides so you cant see the cross hatched grip things

No, but then again, I live in New York most of the time, and there are shouting hobo guys running around in their underwear and people don't really seem to give two glances toward them either, so in the whole scheme of things, for all I know, it may not be as bad as I thought.

To be fair, the Margiela Converses are somewhat similar, in that they're dunked in white paint, but they don't look nearly as fucked up or messy as mine do.

I'd avoid getting the plastidip inside the shoe, it'll be mad uncomfortable. Just do the outsoles and the tip. If you use enough plastidip, it'll drip while hardening and thus giving you poor man's CCP's.

Thinking about it, here's how I would do it:

>1) cut holes in tongue and rig the laces through like pic related
>2) wax the canvas upper of the converse, it'll look somewhere between leather and plastic that way and add to the "postapocalyptic" vibe of the CCP-imitation
>3) put plastidip in deep and wide enough bowl.
>3.1) do the outsoles
>3.2) do the heels
>3.3) do the tip, making sure the entire rubber nose of the converse is covered
>3.4) outsole again, this time lifting the entire shoe out of the plastidip and letting it dry while dripping

Should work, no? Try and post pics.
