Maybe with a true original HY cut. But otherwise, short sides/long tops variation are really a basic, versatile haircut.

Well looking at the posts, that is a fade, and that is one of the most versatile and timeless haircuts. Existed since the 30s and can be styled in a myriad number of ways. I always grow mine out and make it a side part pompadour, though I have problems making the actual pomp.

I've used both and they both have different dry textures.

Fiber for a kinda loose, wavy, dry swept back look. Like a surfer undercut I guess.

Pomade is good for a more wet look or if you want your hair slicked back .

I used fiber because I thought it was the more contemporary look rather than looking like a 50s greaser, some people can pull it off though.
