But yes, the quality was shit and as soon as I started wearing it I noticed them on fucking everyone, not having any external holders for water bottles/umbrellas and some stiff zippers make things even worse

do not repeat my mistake

I'm afraid I already have, bought one of these about 4 months ago. I haven't had any issues with quality yet, and here in Australia they're fairly rare, so I'm not regretting it that much yet.

Still, definitely looking for an upgrade.

Worth buying the replacement straps and/or the laptop version because the skinny straps KILL your shoulders. I like the laptop version because when I'm travelling I can put my wallet + passport in the back pocket without worrying that it gets stolen since the back laptop compartment pocket is only accessible from the inside. The insulation gets a bit warm against the back in the summer tbh but I don't mind. Also if you're a picnicking type the laptop sleeve holds about four bottles of beer and keeps them relatively cool.

Fuck man. It is ugly but so usefull, I tried really hard to destroy it but i just couldn't.

They had the Slick Rucks which were literally GR0/GR1s with no molle.
Personally the molle adds some detail, while staying very clean looking.
The front pocket I think is just supposed to look cool lel. At least its extra storage.
I find that its the most functional kind of pack out there right now.
I've been searching for months now for the ideal backpack for my needs, and the only pack that fits exactly what I'm looking for is the GR1, or a Herschel Classic.
Every single pack I look at is either ugly, cheap (feeling), or has too much organization.
I wish there were more packs of that exact style, since the only thing keeping me from a GR1 is the price.

It has great weight distribution, and is made of Cordura nylon, which is incredibly tough stuff.

Also, they go on sale a fair amount, and have amazing customer service/lifetime warranty

I ordered mine for $309 for the kit, and it went on sale like 1 week later for $65 less. I emailed them and asked if they'd do a price adjustment, and they gave me a $65 gift code

Other than the kinda weird "rucking" community, i like the bag a lot

The problem with the front pocket is that it's slanted. Anyone using the bag on the go will tell you that taking one strap off and digging for something you need in that pocket is unpleasant

1000D cordura is not that significantly better than what a lot of brands that charge 1/10th the price offer (JanSport and others have 900D cordura nylon bags for $40, the number doesn't really reflect how "good" it is; 1680D cordura is often times shit)

Its weight distribution is actually pretty piss poor if the backpack isn't full, since a water bottle would just roll around in there.

If you like the bag, power to you. I rather like it too, and so does my father. He got his bag (GR0) for less than $200 a while back from their 25% discount for servicemen (even though he's retired) on top of a sale.

Even then though, I would really recommend a different bag. It's just a decent looking black bag with features people here won't use. Are you seriously telling me strapping pouches to the molle is something people on here would do? No, please don't. I'm not hating on the bag, I just want people to provide both pros and cons, I haven't seen very much of the latter.

the Tom Bihn bag I linked, with Dyneema Ripstop, is my personal bag. It's just as tough as the GoRuck, maybe more so due to the ripstop style weave. With the exception of lacking a laptop compartment (their cache system is not as good), I consider it superior than what GoRuck currently outputs in terms of usability, looks, and variety.

The TB bag really has TRUE weight distribution. There's a water bottle pouch that fits a 1L bottle perfectly, and not much else. Instead, the hip pack takes up the rest of the space where the water bottle pouch ends. There's a lot more, but really the Tom Bihn is just a lighter, better looking, less expensive but more cost efficient purchase. My 2c
