Thinking of getting dreads, need some suggestions on styles that go well with them, not reggae or dirty, and also general advice from anyone whose had them.

Does thickness depend on hair type, or personal preference? How long do they take to lock?

By the looks of it you could probably pull off something like this. There's a lot of nice styles if you're black but I'm finding it harder being the tan latino boy that I am.

Your hairline looks like it could be edged pretty neatly, only the sides might give you a problem. You could most certainly find a way to make it work for you though.
