Dressing up your house is fashion, right?

What are some modern styles of beds, shelves, dressers, and desks that you approve of?

I like modern and minimalism that is free of clutter. I specifically say "modern" because old fashioned furnishings gross me out. If it's something that would've been in my grandma's house, I don't want it anywhere near my house!

If I go to somebody's house and they have flower printed couches or Victorian-style ones that are curved awkwardedly or with wooden armrests, I'm going to puke a little in my mouth.

I like the tv, it's shit quality and old but it's fine. Nice plant too, and good comfy furniture. The back side of the room not such much though, strange coffee table/rug/couch/cupboards/tiny chest on wrought iron table/pipe in corner.

Your apartment looks like an ikea catalog. Ever since they started producing mcm pieces that's all I can see when I look at this kind of thing.

Mix up the chairs on your dining table a bit, looks strange having the bucket chairs at the end. I think you are going for a kind of mismatched aesthetic, so try make it look a bit more random.

The bookcase I really dig, great choice, and your carpenter did great work. Again I'd mix it up a bit and make it look more random.

Your reading chair, what can I say, I see a vase sitting on top of a book, sorry but that's not good mate! Could do with a blanket on the chair, but otherwise it's great. I really like those flowers, maybe you should get some more plants.

read my post - it isn't REALLY tailoring the building. A glass box pays no respect to the local architecture, the historic context, or the natural materials of the site. Think of how much more the experience of living at one with that incredible landscape would be if local stones were integrated, or the view was framed at key points to enliven certain spots?
just my opinions of basic architectural theory; glass boxes have had their fun and good architecture is moving past it

Im moving into this room but it still needs furniture. The whole room has the dark wood decoration on the wall and wallpaintings, but not as colourful as these. Theres lots of light because of all the windows and a dark wooden floor. What colour furniture would match best with this? My options are pretty limited so think Ikea etc

Get that thought out of your head. I didn't buy a single thing there. I appreciate their symphathetic pricing, but the quality and finish is bad.

I agree with you on the chairs, but the missus wanted it this way, and sometimes you gotta compromise.

I don't agree with you on the mixing of the bookcase, though. I think it would become too disturbing.

Why can't you put a vase on top of a book? Agree on the reading chair, and we're actually in the market for a blanket. We're just super picky, but we've just found one from Elvang that looks great.

>>10125018
Actually it is a lot of books, but as you say it is massive. I don't want to buy books simply for show, so we just buy more books as we read then.

Colour coding the books is a way to make the bookcase less unsettling, which some people apparently feel that it is.

>>10125048
Get a carpenter to do it.

>>10125989
I understand your point. Actually want you don't see in the picture is that the couch is full of pillows in various textiles from Wrong for HAY. But we'll get a blanket for the chair.

look for the medium brown wood staining like in the pic, maybe varying it with slightly lighter or darker pieces but keep it around there.

Like I said, ever since Ikea started producing mcm that's all I can see when I look at this kind of thing. You could definitely reproduce your place using Ikea, except the bookcase.

I wouldn't put a vase on a book because water damage + pressure damage. Books should be kept away from water. Even it's fake, it doesn't look right to me.

IMO of course.

allright, just looked very much like a place many design magazine agents would probably love to shoot.

as for plaids here are some suggestions in the track of coulourful and geometrical designs:

scholten & baijing for thomas eyck makes really interesting one, kind of steep prices and most of them are very large
wallace & sewell has a wide variety of plaids in waffle knitted wool in beautiful colours and nice quality
simon key berthman (now for muuto) makes very decent priced knitted cotton pieces
hay has some aswell that you probably have seen.
for what i think will really blow up is the pia wallén wool plaids with the crosses, they are hot now and very classy (+ she is really cool)

but honestly, since you got the wfh cushions wich are very loud i would suggest you look at single coloured plaids. check out arcade avec, preferably in a store if possible because they are excellent.

dude, why dont you just move in with someone from /fa/ or /mu/ ? (im guessing mu is your main board) youre relatively cute so im p sure some nice guy would let you stay in a nice place for free, i mean the most you would have to do is probably just hang out with him once in a while, etc...

I like where you're going but if you use it as a lounge room then make it seem more welcoming/comfortable. also what he said >>10135031, having a tv as the only focal point is pleb tier, maybe rearrange the chair to face more towards the window idk
