Grow out the top to nose length then when you go to wherever you get your hair cut, ask them to:
Leave the top completely, specify that you don't want it blended, thinned, or cut at all
Then have it parted properly and shave the sides to whatever you want
The styling doesn't really matter, it obviously needs hair hanging down on one or both sides, just get a product that makes your hair look thicker

When I go to style my hair, I put the product on the tips of my fingers on one hand and hold up my hair from the parts on either side and run my fingers through my hair
If I use too much, I brush it and comb it out

I use a styling paste, I wouldn't use a gel or pomade. don't use a product that would make your hair look wet or shiny

Not really too particular, the only thing I really reinforce is trying not to let it grow beyond the lip, trust me when I say it looks fucking horrible and I always end up chewing on it when I eat.

I've been on HRT since Nov 1, I have some breast tissue, but nowhere near an A cup yet. I think I was on a low dose of E for a few months (2mg after having been on patches). This month I started 4mg, which has helped get things going again a tiny bit. (actually just got bloodwork today)
