I've had the old leather ones and they're MUCH nicer than the current (or at least, last season) regular leather versions, much more substantial and comfy.

I think current leather isn't as nice as the canvas ones, compared to last seasons leather Ramones I'd rather wear my cap-less canvas or waxed canvas ones.

Reverse leather are rad though, and the nylon coated from last year and the new Sphinx ones look sick.

I'm currently selling a pair of Ramones in black canvas, the ones with no toe-cap. Love them, but I wear sneakers less than boots so I don't need so many pairs. Barely worn.

Also have a cotton tech-ish material intarsia moto jacket that's fantastic midweight and a DRKSHDW denim jacket, I just don't wear them enough, want em in a good home.

Still don't get your criticism. It's the same general shapes (with occasional variations in proportion and scale) that he's been making for years. Culturally, we're acclimated to the idea of a tuxedo and button-up shirts, so if you've been following Rick for decades and you're after novelty, then maybe it'll seem like he's run out of ideas.

But the people who wear it, aren't after novelty. They're looking for an alternative and once they've found it, the repetition and variation are reassuring ways to reinforce what you like and what feels natural for you to wear.

Any sneaker lined in leather is going to be pretty comfortable, especially if it's padded. I don't know if I would say that Rick sneakers are heads and shoulders above similarly marketed designer brands (e.g. Balenciaga, Pierre Hardy, Margiela), but of course a lot of what you're paying for is the styling.

DRKSHDW is the diffusion line, they tend to use less expensive materials such as canvas in replacement of leather etc etc to get the same look without the price tag.

This doesnt mean they are made to a poorer standard though.

The easiest example is the Mainline ramones are Leather (horse, calf) and the DS ones are waxed, treated or plain canvas, or mesh etc etc

Quality on DRKSHDW is on par with mainline, just different materials and boxier, sportier cuts. Hell, a lot of people would probably argue that drkshdw is higher quality due to how substantial a lot of the material is, depending on what you value most - durability or a soft drape.

That said mainline can easily be cut into your prefered length (I do this) and hemmed (I don't do this) and they won't fray from the bottom (now they here)

..And there's always some drkshdw in super lux materials and vice versa, so it's about as easy to keep up with as sizing, hehe. Two of my fav rick pieces are these super soft semi-sheer DRKSHDW printed long sleeves, which I'd deffo pin as mainline if I didn't know they were drkshdw.

Point being: It's not a diffusion line in the sense that the materials are worse than mainline, they're just different materials but quality-wise on par with the rest. Cotton will always be cheaper than silk, regardless of how soft/thick/substantial/adjective it is.

This isn't to say that DRKSHDW uses cheap fabrics. A DRKSHDW nylon top could be as expensive or more expensive than a cotton mainline one. Just think of them as different takes on the same look. How often something needs to be washed varies a lot tbh, a shirt can get rank in like an hour if you're hungover in the sun or last multiple wears if you stay fresh. Personally I've never experienced this problem, but that's probably a mix of having a lot of shirts (which is what eventually happens when you spend a few years picking up pieces here and there) and doing your laundry often.

Technically you COULD wear the same shirt every day if you just wash it in the evenings, but that'd feel a bit weird.

It won't show and will look fine. I've seen smaller dude than you pull off the rick look just fine. Just gotta make sure you get your sizing. With the shorts there isn't too much different between the sizes in length, what changes as you go up is the waistband and the overall width and thus proportions of the shorts.

The question which is asked a million times a day. Could I fit a 43 in Rick baskets/ramones, I'm normally a 44 in Nikes. But because I don't want them to be sooo long, I've thought about buying them a size smaller. Also because I tried on a pair of milk geobaskets from this season, and I had to size down two sizes (a 42). The shopkeeper told me though, that others had to size down around two sizes.
