Honestly, there really aren't any. All of those notes/qualities you listed really lend themselves more towards darker, heavier scents that are more appropriate for colder weather.

That said, one note that fits with what you're looking for that works well in warm weather scents is vetiver. Here are some suggestions, some of these are obviously more affordable than others but I don't know your budget so I feel like I should include some more expensive options as well

Guerlain Vetiver
Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee
Terre D'Hermes
Lalique Encre Noire Sport
Kenzo Homme Boisee
D.S. & Durga Cowboy Grass
Ermenegildo Zegna Haitian Vetiver
Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire

according to this interview with a professional perfumer, rubbing does effect a fragrance

>Typically, complex scents are a combination of top notes, middle or heart notes and base notes. Top notes are more delicate, lighter, and dissipate most quickly; base notes are heavier molecules, longer lasting. And if you rub your wrists together right after putting on your
favourite fragrance, you really do spoil those light-molecule top notes. The friction between the perfume and your skin's natural oils "rushes the fragrance," says Frémont. In effect, he says, you're fast-forwarding your scent experience, bypassing the opening and going straight to the heart notes.

i'm sure dabbing and very light rubbing won't make a huge difference though, but i don't think it's a huge stretch to think that tiny amount of unnecessary friction and added heat could effect something as delicate as a fragrance

fwiw there's more anecdotal stuff on fragrantica and basenotes, too, not that you should put too much stock in those

just experiment for yourself and see if the difference is notable, i guess

Not the anon you're replying to but i just so happened to test out CdG 2 finally. Was intrigued by the "inky" accord I've heard about and tbh the bottle is cool so if I liked it, it would be a good bottle to add to my shelf. Here are my thoughts.

It's smells really dated, synthetic, and sharp. I'm assuming that the "dated" vibe is due to the aldehydes. It just has that kind of typical "old lady perfume" smell. Something you'd smell when hugging a grandma or aunt at a funeral. Totally not unisex in my opinion, and totally hasn't stood the test of time (been around for over 15 years now). It is a very basic cheap air freshener or fabric softener type of scent. Even the supposed ink is lost on me, overpowered by heavy florals and the aldehydes. CdG 2 gets 2 thumbs down.

I think I've only smelled 3 people with CdG 2 that smelled amazing. One was some 16 year old guy who was friends with my family in which the ink notes and incense stuck out and were GOAT, another was some clerk lady at a store who again smelled mostly like the incense and fruity notes, and a third person whom I forgot but the floral notes stuck out amazingly as well.

But for most people in my experience it's just a strange thing

i bought a bottle, it's okay but very feminine after the first 15 mins. not like "sexy" feminine but like an edgy church-mom type of feminine.

it's pretty pleasant though, just doesn't send the message you're probably looking to send. unless that message is that it's okay to skip some church activities but you love jesus and go to church every sunday. it's not classy, not sexy, not delicious, not "conservative." it's not a nasty smell either though.

I too am a cheap ass, and can't bring myself to spend Creed-tier prices on smelly water, so after sampling Virgin Island Water and loving it, I sampled the Tommy Bahama as well.

It's true that they are similar, but more like similar in the same category. Both beachy, both tropical.. But the best way to describe the difference is that the creed is like a coconut rum cocktail, and the tommy is like a margarita. Also, I should say that after sampling the tommy, I ended up not buying a bottle because it simply smells cheap. It has a typical aquatic accord in it that is very synthetic and gives me a headache. I does smell pretty good at first whiff, but I literally had to wash it off my arm after about 20 mins due to the cheapness. Unfortunately, for a tropical coconut beachy fragrance, i have not found anything similar that's less expensive than the creed.

Sup guys,

I started out gravitating toward woodsy, leathery, vetivery scents
and I'm just slowly beginning to feel nauseated by them all.

I want to try something completely different. Something subtle, sweet, with mild projection. Not floral. More fruity or gourmand.
Really I just want a nice subtle waft of sweetness.
Do any perfumes pair sweet fruity notes with something completely not sweet? I feel like that would be up my alley.

>Midnight in Paris

Gucci PH2 is a fav of mine also, but the longevity is pretty shitty. And my girlfriend critiques it as being a little too sweet. I don't necessarily agree, but I see where she's coming from.

TF Oud Wood is awesome and unique, but expensive as hell so it depends on how much you really want to spend on your 17 year old relative. Simply based on the fact that he's 17, I wouldn't spend TF private blend prices on him for the simple fact that he could decide he doesn't like it and never wear it.

I got a 25ml from ebay and used it for a week and boy is damn good! what I like most is that is very original, doesn't smell like anything I tried before, and also is very versatile, goes well even in the hot spanish summer. Very good balanced between freshines, sweetness and smokiness.
also the longevity end projecction is great, and it goes better the more you use it.

There's really only one that gets posted on here and tbh it isn't really that good.

Here's what I would suggest you do. Go to your local department store/sephora and just start smelling. Start with the big designer houses like Chanel, Dior, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, YSL, ect...Find the ones you like and ask for samples, most places will oblige. Try them on your skin an see how they develop. This is very important because a lot of the time a fragrance will smell different on a test strip than it does on your skin. If you find one you really like then buy it. Once you feel comfortable about what notes you like then you can start exploring more

Also, I would browse the forums on Fragrantica and Basenotes. Both of those places have tons of knowledgeable people that would love to help you out and give you suggestions on what to try

Honestly, the best thing to do is be really deliberate with the SA's. Just tell them you're really into fragrances and already know what you're looking for. You have 4 or 5 specific ones you want to smell. If they keep pressing you to try different stuff, just tell them you've already smelled it before. It's important to be assertive and take control of the situation when dealing with any sales people. Honestly, with fragrance SA's, it's usually easy because they're often women so even if you're just a little assertive, they'll get intimidated and stop pestering. At least in my experience anyway.

Still looking for a staple scent with a budget of $250. I got 6 samples:

L'Artisan Timbuktu - I like this one a lot; fades fast though
Montale Black Aoud - I could tell 1 spray would knock anyone out, but it smells surprisingly good
Le Labo Santal 33 - I like, but not love. Would probably by a split of it

Different company De Bachmakov - I'd rather fucking roll around in mint leaves from the grocery store than this shit

/fa/ likes to pretend that price equals quality, but in reality all prices of designer goods are deliberately chosen. It's called luxury/prestige pricing.

So why does TFPB cost so much? Why is it called *private* blend? Why is it only sold in his boutiques and some luxury stores? All this is meant to give customers a sense of exclusivity and can attract buyers.

But to be fair, I also have to say: if a designer wants to do a broad parfume collection like TFPB, they have no other choice but to do it like this. A normal parfume shop won't add 20 of your parfumes to their assortment, and even if they did, most people wouldn't buy them (only a few parfumes are big sellers). So I think the sales volume wouldn't increase much.

it would be irresponsible to recommend you some of the fragrances discussed itt as it would be inefficient, not economical, inappropriate for your environment, and most of these fragrances tend to be "stronger" or at least mark some sort of a presence

idk exactly whats on your mind, but if i worked in a kitchen and wanted an inoffensive scent, id just use a nice body wash in the shower tbh.

if youre really want a fragrance than i wouldnt drop serious cash on a serious product. youd be surprised but you can find decent colognes like the original 4711 and even coolwater at a cvs or walgreens. alternatively if you wanna go up in price and brand a bit, shop around at your mall for relatively cheap fragrances. if your mall has a paki shop/kiosk, you can barter with them for something cheap like a coolwater or nautica blue or something.

I would just say never buy creed at full price honestly, buy from fragrance.net or buy decants in not as big of bottles so if you get a batch you dont like its not as big of hit. I liked it too, initially. Then it felt kind of flat and boring, and it seemed like a very simplistic interpretation of what a jazz club would be like.

Jazz clubs are to me: primarily tobacco and smokey burnt tobacco (but no amber/campfire smells), wood notes from the furniture/floor and the piano, some whiskey/rum (the MMM one has rum, ish), musk notes from the people of hot and sweaty crowds and musicians, leather from the drumheads, malt from the beers, the metal taste you get on your lips from playing certain instruments.

It lacks the distinct tobacco notes that it really, really needs. It also doesn't last that long on my skin.
