also It looks like those leaked pics from a while back were real except they're not basketball shoes like they said

>> No.10035905

adidas is overhyped garbage. tubulars are just ugly roshes and people find it hard to admit with roshe' spike in popularity(and therefore death)

Nike is still on top. Look at Free3s/Lunar3s, better than all this garbage yet people still focus on who's backing what instead of the actual shoe

anyone notice how fucking hard it is to drive while wearing tubulars/qasas

not really

i like how theres less branding on the tubular dooms

>> No.10036002

>>10035973
scratch that, i mean there's less obnoxious branding

there isnt a giant y-3 on the heel and there isn't a giant YOHJI YAMAMOTO on the on the sole

the definitive 3 stripes are there but they go well with the design. the branding on the heel and on the sock aren't as obnoxious.

>> No.10036150

i dont understand why people still think nike is good? the only memorable shoes they made are the roshes, yeezys and jordans, which are all shit for poor hypebeasts.
adidas on the other hand have made too many memorable shoes in the past couple years to even name. they collaborate with fashion designers and actually make ground breaking designs. plus yeezy even fucking left nike for adidas lel

In case nobody's been keeping up, this has all been super deliberate moves on Adidas's part. Nike's always going to be the big dog in terms of total sales revenue, especially in the U.S., but Adidas has been pushing the fashion angle much harder because they see Nike's ubiquity as a weakness. It's hard to do "exclusive" and "designer" products when so much of your product is everywhere.

Nike's obviously made overtures with their collabs with ACRONYM, Tisci, Abe, Johanna Schneider, etc., but those are almost always one-off concepts that boost their visibility, but aren't meant to create sustained, repeatable business.

In comparison, Adidas's fashion group has made significant overtures and won over major designers to create shoe ranges that are visible, have the brand allure of designer names, but exist outside the spectrum of everyday sneakers and, thus, are less likely to be in direct competition with Nike and bring their products to a more affluent, wired, and metropolitan consumer. Y-3 was always a part of that strategy, but the development and boom of the Raf, Rick, and Juun J. collaborations show that the model works and can be profitable over a longer term than just one season.

Yeezy is also part of this, but lines like their own Boost products as well as the Tubular ranges show how they can leverage the weight of their design reputation in these other lines towards their more mass-market product ranges.
