Any tips or advice in fixing my hair?I've let my afro just grow out for a while, now I have no fucking clue what do with it. All I do is co-condition in the shower then put a leave in conditioner in it and pick it out. I have 4C hair, how the fuck do I acheive all all these other styled or curly ass defined afros that I see other guys have? I'm clueless.

I cut some high layers yesterday. Unfortunately I fucked up by cutting bangs at th beginning of the summer. I'm waiting on them to grow back in and then I think it'll look pretty good.

Its alot of commitment. I just started unsectioned twist and rip dreads for a more organic look, im 2 weeks in today and i have about a month to go before they start to lock and look like dreads.

You are going to look like shit for about a month and a half but hopefully in the end its worth it

This is my hair after I washed and dried it. I don't use shampoo but I use conditioner after I wash my hair I use flaxseed gel, which works good do define the curls.
I wash my hair like every three days because my scalp starts to itch if I don't wash it longer than that
So my problems are I always have lots of split ends even after I cut them I get new ones after a few days already. Also the day I washed my hair it looks good very defined and all second day is but on the second and third day I look like a hot mess because the curls aren't defined anymore and start to turn into one bush and like don't move individually anymore.
What could I do about that?

Ok all I can answer is the last couple. Sleep with a satin pillowcase. It's a worthwhile investment. Cotton dries out your hair, creates friction which causes frizz, and both of those are what make your curls less defined. If you want you can also "pineapple". Look it up on YouTube.

how high up are you trimming the ends? if it's not high enough, then the ends can just split again easily...otherwise, idk; try curlynikkie and see if she has anything on her site.

this happens to me too. you can try braiding it or twisting it while it's wet/damp and then undoing it when it's dry; that might help to better set the definition. or you could try spritzing and lightly re-moisturizing on the second and third day.

Dreads actually can 'grow' faster, because of less breakage. Just like braids, they are in a sense a protective hairstyle.

So technically, they don't grow faster, but about everything that breaks off gets caught in its own dread again. The result is that at the end the month, it might seem like you have longer hair.

What's some natural, creamy-type stuff I can use to keep my shit mildly wavy?

I use products like pic related right now. It works fine, but it leaves my hands all greasy and whatnot; an unsavory sensation that requires me to wash my hands.

I just started using some body cream instead; which seems to work, however my hair feels drier than when I use the greasy shit (drier than a motherfucker, to be exact).

Is there another cream product fit for both mild waves and skin?

Organic and natural stuff preferred.

It's a plus if smells delicious.

Okay, so I don't want to sound retarded, but what's the the difference between greasing my scalp with it and putting it in my hair?

Do I need to use something else to grease my scalp?

As a reference, my hair is about as short as this random guy's; just not as "relaxed" looking.

My current routine involves taking a glob and/or clump of some viscous product and rubbing it into my hair. Afterward, I am filled with great displeasure at the greasy sensation on my hands, and I am compelled to wash them with the aid of some surfactant (typically soap). Then, I must dry them completely (an act made difficult by the humid state of my bathroom after showering) before applying lotion to my skin.

This current process is both inefficient and time-consuming, in addition to feeling gross as fuck. Tentatively, I aim to use the coconut oil in the same manner; with the difference being that I'd go directly to applying the lotion to my skin without needing to clean off the remaining coconut oil residue.

Is this a viable use case for coconut oil, or am I destined to forever have to choose between greasy-feeling hands and dry-feeling hair?

But people usually grease their scalps with Blue Magic, so technically you've been doing it all along. If you switch to coconut oil, you can rub it on your skin like lotion. It's probably because it isn't being well moisturized. Apply a leave in conditioner. DON'T TOWEL DRY. You probably don't do that since it's just short but if you do, that's a big problem. As far as leave in conditioner, I suggest Cantu. And for gel the green stuff that says "EcoStyler"

But think about a towel for a second. It's hella absorbent and covered in those little furry things. That means it's soaking all the moisture from your hair AND creating friction and frizz.

It's hard to tell from the photo but it looks like he has 4c hair with a twist out. Go to a barber, get faded sides, then see if there's anyone in your family that can grip your roots for free.
