I love it. It's absolutely amazing. The new bracelet is superb, the clasp is great and the glidelock system is really good. The ceramic bezel and crystal is superb, I've knocked the watch over concrete, and there isn't a scratch to see. Also the maxi case isn't really that big off a deal - the watch is super slim and the lugs are only a little wider, not a game breaker.

When the euro dropped against the dollar, I decided it was time. I ordered my first auto watch. Stowa fliger no logo no date. Love the simplicity of the classic "A" dial pilot. And the fact its from one of the original makers (debateible yes) is awesome IMO.

Now for my next watch I'm very torn. I seem to love classic clean designs.
I like the marine/deck style watches. Tourby enamel keeps catching my eye.
So others are the typical ones. Omega moon watch. Rolex sub no date, or an older Rolex explorer with holes.

I also love the JLC master ultra thin moon but it's a little more dressy than I need.

So many beautiful watches. So little money. Lol

Does a watch this low-profile have any business being worn with stuff besides a suit?

I'm wondering if I should invest ~120$ into servicing this manual wind from '62. It's in pretty good shape for it's age and lack of service, I would guess it has sat in a box with mimimal use. It runs +5s/day according to timegrapher.

Also worth noting it's wearable 36mm in size, instead of the smallish 34mm common in watches this old.

Opinions?

I really like that dial and the hands, looks really nice. The watch looks like it's in really good shape too, the movement doesn't look like it's 50 years old at all. I would totally get that serviced and wear it. I don't think you even need to bother doing any cosmetic stuff to it besides polishing the crystal, should be good to go with just a movement overhaul.

Our watches are both from the same year, by the way.

Thanks or your opinion. Yeah I'm leaning towards servicing it, eventhough it's not worth much in money but imho it deserves some wear.

Sweet Omega you got there. I also have one from '59 which I got overhauled and serviced (excuse the nylon, it was a placeholder strap, nowadays it sits on some brown alligator). It just doesn't get much wear for being so small.

Hesalite speedy pro. I like the display caseback on the sapphire sandwich but acrylic crystals have a neat look and feel to them which I like and which is better suited to the speedy in my opinion. I don't mind doing some regular polishing though, and if you would mind doing that then stick to sapphire.

The first in space one has ugly hands and there's so many goddamn speedy special editions that none of them really feel special anyway. Also the brown leather strap isn't bad but I would rather get the watch with the bracelet and then buy a leather strap afterwards so that you can have both options to choose from.

First of all, having a design like the new Moser Concept doesn't defeat its functionality, unless you can't read a watch without the indexes, in wich case there are bigger functionality issues in your life.

Second, If you want truly functionality, you buy several watches, each for an especific purpose and mood.

Also, I'm a preatty respectable watch person, m8. And I'm no trying to be edgy, I simply enjoy the quintessential things in life.

Is there a distinguishable difference between men's and women's straps?

Long story short, friend of mine is moving away forever and I'm giving her a watch that needs a new strap. The watch is the only possession my dad left me after it came out that he'd been cheating on my mom and he abandoned my family around October 2003. It's got a big face and I have a small wrist and it fit me all wonky up until a few years ago. It's really important to me that she has this watch because she's one of my only friends and I want her to know she's important to me and in a self-involved way, I hope she thinks about me when she looks at it.

All this detail was actually not needed at all. I don't even know why I'm typing at this point. Thanks for reading.
