I have a secret life hack I want to share with /tip/.

a lot of the smaller european nations dont have their own dedicated ebay pages. /tip/ is also decidedly anglo in its leanings, so youll have trouble finding stuff where anglo clothing traditions are dead, dying, or never were in the first place. the north of england is pretty barren in a lot of ways for good clothing, despite england being the place where half the fucking textile mills are. you can get good shoes pretty cheap up here tho if you know where to look.

I mean, there are Charity Shops but I have to stress how tiny they are in the UK compared to the Goodwill I went into in Canana. The selection is usually highstreet brand trash unless you're out in the countryside.

I have an Estonian friend that absolutely cleans up on flea markets with militaria, I'm talking modern leather officer jackets for like 10euro. Once upon a time you could do the same here on Saturday markets & Sunday car boots, but they're mostly dead now.

Facebook marketplace is worth a look in my opinion. I buy long boots (Dubarry, Ariat etc) very cheaply in mens sizes because they get them as gifts but you have to be...a particular type of man to enjoy the look.

Brand new still in the box, usually between £150-£200. If you're a better haggler or have smaller feet, less than that even.

My size 10 Ariats were only £100, but there was some divorce going on with the seller so I think that was a fluke. I actually don't think highly of Dubies, I've had two pairs fail the same way with the soles peeling off and they're a bit cold in winter, but I really like how they look. Ariats are bombproof. I have a pair of Brandecosse too which are great, but they fit a bit small for the size.

Anyway, all of them came off facebook bar the Chameaus.

I rarely wear shorter boots so comparing comfort is a bit hard, broadly speaking I find them all comfy. The dubarrys are very light for what they are, and I'd only had one pair leak when standing in water.

I had a pair of Dubarries and I used to walk the dog in them daily, about six miles on country lanes and fields. They were already used but lasted a few (3/4/5 I'd estimate) years. Bit disappointing that they wore out so fast, but so far I've not had a pair last more than 5 years of real use. The ones I have now I'd expect to last longer, short city walks so there's barely any wear & tear.

If you don't mind the weight I can't recommend Chameau wellies highly enough for bad weather. Supremely warm and comfortable.

You know, I have thousands of pictures left over from my Milsurp posting days and barely any have tweed or my boots in. I should really get back into posting.

Not that I can recall, mind you I'm thinking back about ten years. They can't really rub your upper heel and dubarry leather doesn't really need breaking in. I had some fierce callouses on my heels but they were from a pair of jack Pyke boots. Some of the harder boots rub in places higher up the leg, but not excessively.

Funnily enough we were having a discussion at the time about trousers over jackboots (you can see the uniformed guy in the background has his pulled right down over them) and I tested it. Definitely an acquired taste. The way I see it you have two choice, go the femme route and wear something very skinny or go very baggy so the trousers kind of roll (cascade?) over the tops of the boots. Past that the world it your oyster as far as colour and material. I like a brightly coloured cord because the long boots hide some of it and it's more of a flash of colour.

Yes, those are the ones that cause zero problems if you just put them on and start walking. If you're unsure see if you can find an old battered pair - you can fit a euro 42 so you can just buy a womens pair in a style that's going cheap and try them out.

I'm sure you can remove patch pockets, but it's probably more effort than it's worth. Even the british wool shirts always have them as a matter of course.

As far as trousers over the top, maybe with the Galway boot. They're quite tight to the leg even at the top, and I think you can even get them in a slim version. The other styles tend to have a pointed oval shape and that won't work well I don't think.
