personally, i really like milsurp stuff. i own a pair of no.2 dress pants, a pair of RAF pants, a pair of no.2 parade shoes and a pair of no.2 officers parade boots. i have however removed the belt loops from my dress pants so they dont look like army pants quite so much, and i never wear them with anything that could remotely look like a uniform, or with any other milsurp item i own. only reason i havent thrifted some of their wooley pulleys is because i dont want that much milsurp in my wardrobe.

not saying all rules on this stuff are airtight but there are some things best avoided and others best approached with caution and consideration. i went to some red brick uni in the north of england so i am repping nobodys colours one way or another.

My other choice was Rancourt but I didn't feel like rolling the dice with sizing and Rancourt's only shop is in Maine I think. Glad I went too because I ended up sizing down more than I would've guessed. I'm a 10 in sneakers but my heel was still slipping in 9.5s and I went down to a 9.

How versatile are loafers really? I think some of the opinions I've heard on that subject are at least thirty or forty years old.

I was raised in a very muddy and cold area, so loafers are a complete novelty to me. These days I'm in a climate where I wear chinos and an (untucked) shirt with no jacket due to the heat. I don't wear short-sleeved shirts. Age: late twenties.

I have a pair almost identical to picrelated but with a consistent dark brown colour. They also have gripless soles.

Quite versatile imo. Just remember they lean on the business-casual side. I would never wear them in a formal setting.

Penny loafers are easy to work with and can pair well with many outfits. Tassel loafers are better seen in a more put together, classic outfit like pic related. Horsebit loafers can go either way.
