What's the point of a bottom button if it's not "supposed" to be used? Why do they even put it there?

Who the fuck said it shouldn't be used? It's used if you aren't a fat fuck American that can't fit into his horribly fitting suit.

Some suits dont include a 2nd button, and theres a type of double breasted suit which only includes 1 functioning button
Bafflingly enough the 3/2 suits even have a fucking button at the top you arent supposed to use
But we can have a little tradition

I think the story goes that there was a rather large and important gentleman who couldn't button his waistcoat all at court/Parliament, and it became fashion (or perhaps to make him feel better) to not button the bottom of the jacket. In any case, with a few exceptions, modern jackets are cut so that only the top button (if 2 button) or middle button (if 3) is suppposed to be buttoned. Otherwise you get excessive wrinkling in the jacket like the pic OP posted.

Nice bait, friend. But you're gonna have to try harder next time, no one fell for it

Many suits aren't cut to make use of a bottom button, so no matter how well the suit fits, something will look off with it buttoned. That said, some jackets are cut to be worn buttoned. The Duke of Windsor, after he abdicated, became something of a sartorial go to. Perhaps he started leaving bottom buttons unbuttoned because he was getting fatter, but anyway, that's the story. It could be apocryphal, like the story about Kennedy and presidential hats.

Holy shit, why do you retards even bother to reply when you haven't a clue?

The button wasn't used by King Edward VII because he was too fat to button it up and much like how celebs do stupid shit today and people copy them, the same happened back then and it became fashion and then kinda just the same thing to do as it followed what previous generations did.

If you can look at it objectively you'll see it's a dumb "rule" and if you are not fat, then go ahead and button up.

Great advice for looking like a dork that has never worn a suit before

Do you have autism? It's not advice. It's fact why people do that. Just wow. Take your meds. I am the first person to answer OP correctly with historical face and the little trolls just start shit slinging. Another daily reminder why this place is garbage and why posters like you are not even banned for trolling and being abusive.

You're being abusive, you should be banned

No I am replying to an obvious angry troll. If you think asking if someone has autism is being abusive, meaning autism in itself is something bad then perhaps check your moral character you vile little boy.

You really are this "incel" people keep talking about. Pathetic.
